Where We Will Meet

Meet on the waterfront side of the Food Bazaar Supermarket

Where The Walk Will End

We can have a lunch at the Food Court of Food Bazaar

About This Walk

Embark on a soulful sojourn through the enchanting lanes of Red Hook Brooklyn. Here, the timeworn cobblestone streets and Civil War-era warehouses whisper tales of bygone eras, offering a chance for reflection amidst the bustling backdrop of New York City. Perched gracefully on the edges of New York Harbor, Red Hook isn’t just a neighborhood—it’s a journey between epochs. As the old and new converse in harmonious contrast, be ready to capture moments where Ikea meets the age-old harborside, both standing in the shadow of the not-too-distant Statue of Liberty.

Let’s tread softly, letting our cameras and hearts unearth hidden gems, unspoken stories, and moments of introspection. And as the photo walk winds down, we can gather our thoughts over a comforting meal at the food court of the Food Bazaar supermarket or perhaps wander to a different cozy eatery nearby. Remember to wear shoes that cradle your feet and bring enough batteries to keep your camera charged, for this promises to be more than a photo walk—it’s a journey inwards and outwards, through time and space. 📸🍂🌃

The Photo Walk is on.October 6th, 2023

Hi everyone.

As promised, I’ve decided that the walk will happen tomorrow. Well, I didn’t really decide but I was informed that the walk cannot be moved to another date because of the rules of the contest associated with the photo walk.

So, with that in mind, I know many of you will probably not show up due to the rainy forecast. I prefer better weather but I’ll be wrapping my camera in a hefty bag in one hand and an umbrella in the other. With the weather possibly being bad, I think I may shorten the walk distance depending on the conditions.

Anyway, please prepare for lousy weather and let’s see what we can make with our cameras and our eyes tomorrow.

Again, I can be reached via text at 917-518-7853.

Antonio.

UPDATE: WALK IS BACK ON FOR SATURDAYOctober 5th, 2023

Walkers,

I’ve been informed that the photo walk cannot be rescheduled for Sunday due to the contest rules. So please be prepared to be photographing in the rain. Hopefully the rain will end before we start and maybe it will be light.

Please reply to this email (antonio@amrosario.com) to let me know what your intentions are in regards to showing up for the walk.

Thank you.

IMPORTANT – PHOTO WALK RAIN DATE CHANGE POSSIBLEOctober 5th, 2023

Greetings photo walkers.

It looks like there’s rain in the forecast on Saturday morning in Brooklyn.

I would like to propose to move the photo walk to Sunday morning but I would like to get a consensus from all the walkers.

So please email me at antonio@amrosario.com and tell me your preference to continue the walk on Saturday in the rain or move it to Sunday. Please email me back by FRIDAY before NOON. I will then make a determination based on the replies I receive whether to move the walk to Sunday at the same time and same place. I will let the majority decide.

My suggestion is if you are able to do the walk on Sunday then we should do it then. Photographing in the rain makes things more complicated, as you know.

Please think on this and email me back ASAP, before TOMORROW (FRIDAY) at NOON. I will then send another email with my decision soon after, so check your email boxes.

If you need to get in direct touch with me for some reason, please text me (do not call as I will not answer) at 917-518-7853. Please do not text me your reply to this email. I will not be available today to answer.

Looking forward to hearing from you all as soon as possible.

Thanks,

Antonio

ParkingOctober 2nd, 2023

You *may* be able to park in the lot for the full walk but I couldn’t guarantee that. Mainly it’s for the supermarket use and they may have a 2-hour limit. That being said, I’ve parked there before and didn’t have any issues. Also, there should be plenty of street parking around the area on a Saturday morning.

  1. I am looking forward to this. I am originally from Brooklyn but have not lived there in quite some time. I just want to verify the address for my gps is 480-500 Van Brunt Street. I assume I can park in the market lot, if not do you have any suggestions on where to park?

  2. Hi Andrew. Sorry for the delay. WWPW doesn’t send out notifications that there are messages waiting. You *may* be able to park in the lot for the full walk but I couldn’t guarantee that.
