1. Great news! Our afterwalk dinner will be held at Unbranded, 310 N Mesa St, Ste R-318 Cortez Building (Across San Jacinto Plaza) at 7PM. This is a no-host dinner and you do not have to attend but we would dlove to have you!

   Also, please dont forget that you can purchase a Walk t-shirt and donate to the orphanage!

   Scott Kelby Worldwide Photo Walk kicks off at 5:00 PM this Saturday, here is a practical look at how the crowd dynamics will impact your shoot, along with some tips for the group: [1]
   What to Expect Around 5:00 PM

   Golden Hour Lighting: The timing is perfect. Sunset will be shortly after 6:30 PM, giving your group that warm, low-angle light moving through the downtown buildings, right as the crowds start to heavily fill the streets.

   The “Alligator” Congestion: Because San Jacinto Plaza is a major hub for Chalk the Block, the area around the statue will be incredibly busy. I recommend arriving at least 15 to 20 minutes early just to find your group among the pedestrians.
   Street Dynamic: Moving off to “wander” will offer incredible candid street photography, environmental portraits of artists finishing their murals, and vibrant colors. However, using long focal-length lenses might be tricky in the dense foot traffic; a wider prime or versatile zoom will be easier to manage as people cross your frame.

   Post-Walk Note
   If you are planning to join the group afterward, there is an optional dinner scheduled at Unbranded Tavern in the nearby Cortez building. It’s just a short walk from the plaza, but given the thousands of extra people downtown for the festival, table wait times across the district will be high—sticking close to the group’s destination is your best bet! 4. Greetings walkers! Our walk begins tomorrow at 5PM, and I hope you are prepared.
   Wear comfortable shoes; the weather should be pleasant, with temperatures near 70 and no wind at the start.
   We will gather at the alligator sculpture, collect lanyards, form teams if desired, and depart. You are responsible for your own timing, but if you would like to join us for dinner at Unbranded, please tell us. We have a reservation for 15.
   Charge your batteries and clean your lenses, and we will meet tomorrow at 5PM.
   Arrive early, since parking will be difficult.

   See you all at 5PM at the Los Lagartos Statue in San Jacinto Plaza.
   Please allow for parking as the event might be crowded witht he folks attending the Chalk the Block.
   Weather should be nice.
   Don’t forget that this WWPW is designed to help the Springs of Hope orphanage in Kenya, so please make a contribution elsewhere on this site.
   If you registered by Thursday, we will have a lanyard made up for you.
   Dont forget, we will meet up at Unbranded (310 N Mesa St, Ste R-318 Cortez Building) afterwards for dinner if you wish to join us.

6. Here’s a quick version you can send to everyone:

   📸 PEEP World Wide Photo Walk — Quick Safety Tips

   * Stay aware of your surroundings. It’s easy to stare through the camera and step into a street, curb, hole, bicycle path, or another photographer.
   * Use crosswalks and obey signals. The photograph isn’t worth dodging traffic.
   * Walk with someone when possible, especially as it gets darker.
   * Keep your gear close. Don’t leave cameras, bags, phones, or tripods unattended, even for a minute.
   * Ask before photographing people up close. A little courtesy goes a long way.
   * Don’t enter private property or climb fences, walls, rooftops, construction areas, etc. to get the shot.
   * Watch where you stop. Don’t block sidewalks, doorways, ADA ramps, driveways, or business entrances.
   * Bring water. Fortunately, today should be quite pleasant, around the mid-70s during the walk, with light winds and no weather advisories currently posted.
   * Remember the light will disappear quickly. Sunset in El Paso is about 6:48–6:49 PM today, right near the end of the walk.
   * If something feels unsafe, skip the photograph. There will always be another picture.

   And one specifically for photographers: when you step backward to compose a shot, LOOK BACK FIRST. Photographers have an almost supernatural ability to locate the only curb within 50 feet. 😄

7. What a wonderful event, and thank you all for making the 2026 PEEP Kelby Photowalk a success. Most participants seemed to enjoy the experience, and several appreciated the cool weather and sunset timing.
   Now that it has concluded, please upload your photos. You should have received an email with instructions. Remember that last year’s winner was a PEEP member, so let’s aim for two years in a row.
