About This Walk
Discover Dumaguete through your lens! Join me, Photungvi (John Rey Villareal)—a Dumaguete-based photographer passionate about capturing Filipino culture and everyday life—for a creative photowalk that begins at the city’s iconic Rizal Boulevard and winds its way through the vibrant streets toward Foundation University.
We’ll start early on the boulevard to catch the soft morning light over the sea, the fishermen’s boats, and the timeless silhouettes of people jogging or sipping coffee by the shore. From there, we’ll meander into the heart of Dumaguete’s old streets, passing markets, cafés, tricycles, and colonial-era buildings, before ending at Foundation University’s lush campus, where modern student life meets heritage architecture.
This walk is designed not only to discover great photo opportunities but also to immerse ourselves in the city’s rhythm. Bring comfortable shoes, water, and your favorite gear—whether that’s a DSLR, a phone, or a film camera. Look for moments of contrast and emotion: street vendors and students, shadows and light, history and modernity.
My tip for first-time walkers: move slowly, observe, and don’t hesitate to interact with people—you’ll get more authentic portraits and stories that way. Together, we’ll explore Dumaguete through fresh eyes and create images that tell its story.

Hey everyone, due to the high number of signups for this event, we are now limiting our course to the wet market area. Though if any of you would like, feel free to join some of us that will go through the original course. Thanks everyone!
Excited for this photo walk in my local city 😊
Hello everyone, I will be posting the complete route here soon. Please let me know if there are spots you can recommend. Thanks!
