About This Walk
Hello Walkers! As requested at last year’s walk, this year we’ll be doing our Photowalk in Morro Bay! We’ll have the opportunity to photograph the iconic Morro Rock, a beautiful marina, lots of wildlife from birds and otters to sea lions, the Maritime Museum’s (the museum is free) boats and submarine and love them or hate them, the Morro Bay stacks! The Embarcadero Boardwalk is home to lots of unique shops, such as the historic shell shop, restaurants, galleries and of course people watching.
We’ll start at the Morro Bay T Pier across the street from the Maritime Museum. There’s a lot of free parking at this spot and the Morro Bay T Pier is the home to lots of otters and a nice photo opp of the bay and Morro Rock.
We’ll continue and walk through town and the Embarcadero Boardwalk. Along the way there are plenty of things to see and photograph, sculptures such as the ‘Classic Ford Bench’, the anchor in Anchor Memorial Park, the Centennial Staircase that leads you to the giant ‘Chess Board’ and much more.
We’ll circle back and meet at Tognazzini’s Dockside Restaurant for a quick bite/lunch, relax and chat about our walk and we’ll talk about how the WWPW photo contest works and even discuss next year’s walk location!
I’ll be adding more info to our walk soon. I’m looking forward to seeing many of our past walkers and meeting new friends as well!
Updates!October 17th, 2025
Hello Walkers! Just a reminder that the 24th is the final day to submit your entries for the International Contest! SUBMISSION DEADLINE | October 24, 2025 at 11:59pm ET Kelby doesn’t allow me to see if you have entered or not until after the closing date, so I just want to send a reminder if you haven’t done so yet. I do, however, see that many of you have posted photos on our Flickr page and they are so fun to go through. It always amazes me that even though many take similar photos, that so many are things that I didn’t even see or know where they were! You all took some great shots!
Kelby posted on their FB page that there is a glitch with the Mobile portion of the Contest. I’ve posted the info below. Again, it was nice seeing you all, and I look forward to seeing you all again next year. I’ll email everyone some proposed locations for next year’s walk in the coming months. And if you want to keep in touch, you can follow me on FB or email me at photobyvivian@gmail.com
They wrote: Hey Walkers,
We figured out what was causing the confusion with the Mobile Photo Contest — and here’s the quick fix!
Some walkers were sent a link that only let them view photos, not upload them. To enter your mobile photo in the worldwide contest, just use this correct link: https://kel.by/4nVTtoN
It works on both desktop and mobile, and you can upload your photo directly from your phone or computer.
Deadline: Submit your photo by October 24, 2025 at 11:59PM ET to be eligible.
Thanks again for being part of this year’s Worldwide Photo Walk — we can’t wait to see your mobile shots!📱😀
After the Walk, Flickr Page & Entering ContestOctober 3rd, 2025
Each year, I create a Flickr Page for our group. The Kelby WWPW site also has a page where you can add as many photos as you like; however, our Flickr page is specifically for our walk. It’s always great to see what other photographers captured that you may not have seen, or they have taken with different settings, different angles, etc. Our page is located at: https://flic.kr/g/3gTiqV If you don’t have a Flickr account, you can get one for free by visiting: https://identity.flickr.com/sign-up
After the walk, you will also have an opportunity to enter the Global Competition for some great prizes and bragging rights! Find the submission dates and prizes by visiting: https://worldwidephotowalk.com/prizes/
See you tomorrow morning!!
See You on Saturday Morning!October 2nd, 2025
Hello Walkers! It’s almost time to walk! We’ll be joining over 4,500 other photographers from around the globe, representing more than 25 countries. Our weather will be perfect, with sunny skies and temperatures in the low 70s, with a very slight breeze. I’m looking forward to seeing you all Saturday at 9:30am. Any questions, email me at photobyvivian@gmail.com
Hello Walkers!September 10th, 2025
Hello everyone! We’re 24 days out to our walk! The weather in early October is generally in the low 70s, so we should have a nice day. I’ll be setting up a Flickr page for our walk, so we can all post our favorite photos of the day to share with the other walkers. I’ll share the link soon. There are also good opportunities to do some dock fouling on our walk. If you aren’t familiar with dock fouling, it is similar to tide pooling, but you are searching for marine creatures on the underside of docks instead of on rock shorelines. Here is a link with info: https://thetideisout.com/2023/06/10/dock-fouling-101-what-is-it-and-why-would-i-do-it/ I’m looking forward to seeing everyone soon and if you have any questions, you can post them under the discussion tab or email me at photobyvivian@gmail.com
I’d love to go!
Great Mac! Looking forward to you joining the walk!! See you soon.
see you soon
2 questions…I am looking for the upload requirements and not finding them…the uploading to SlickPic is explained but not the export requirements
and I see the one contest to submit 5. Is this combined for camera and cellphone images?
Hey Cat. Good questions. If I read it correctly, the cell phone images get uploaded to the mobile section and camera separately. The total is 5, so for instance, you can upload three for camera and two for cell phone. The export requirements Supported files are JPG, PNG, RAW JPEG, PNG, GIF, BMP, TIF, HEIC/HEIF, CR2, CR3, NEF, DNG, SR2, PEF, ARW, RAF, PPM and can be Up to 150 MB. Under that info it states: Please note:
You are uploading photos to a group album.
The owner of the group album is responsible for all added content and controls the privacy and visibility of his or her album.
Only upload photos which you own or for which you have the necessary rights, licenses, consent, and permission to use. Adult and other inappropriate images are not allowed.
By uploading your images and videos, you confirm that you have read and agreed to SlickPic’s Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.
Hope that helps! Viv
