About This Walk
Join me for a relaxed Saturday-morning photowalk through downtown Kirkwood. During this approximately 90-minute walk, we’ll explore local history, architecture, everyday activity, and some of the quieter details we might normally pass without noticing.
We’ll meet in the public parking lot located at:
110 N. Clay Avenue
Kirkwood, MO 63122
As a helpful landmark, you’ll see Mike Duffy’s Pub & Grill at the back of the parking lot.
Our planned stops include:
- The newly renovated Kirkwood Train Station and the surrounding Fall Fest area
- Eliot Unitarian Universalist Chapel
- Argonne Alley and Argonne Drive (depends on traffic and festival activities planned that day)
- Kirkwood Farmers’ Market
- First Presbyterian Church of Kirkwood
- Kirkwood United Methodist Church
- Kirkwood Historical Society at Mudd’s Grove (exterior only, as it is regularly open to the public on Fridays).
Downtown Kirkwood will also be hosting Kirkwood Fall Fest, beginning at noon in the parking lot west of the newly renovated train station. The festival will feature live music by Sean Canan’s Voodoo Players, Falling Fences, Mel Salsich and Stephanie Stewart, along with local food, drinks and family-friendly activities.
Although our photowalk will take place earlier, preparations for the festival may affect traffic and parking. At the same time, the activity surrounding the event may create additional opportunities for street, event and architectural photography. Anyone who would like to stay afterward can continue exploring the festival and the renovated station.
A note about photographing churches: Interior access will depend on the permission and availability of each church that day. If we are welcomed inside, we will photograph only the architecture, light and interior details. Photographing people inside the buildings will not be permitted.
Our walking route will return us to the parking lot at the end of the photowalk.
Bring any camera you enjoy using—a phone, compact camera or interchangeable-lens camera. All experience levels are welcome. The focus will be on slowing down, observing, experimenting and discovering familiar Kirkwood from a different perspective.

Hi Robert! The link to join should be at the bottom of the description. If you’ve already joined another walk, you might need to leave it before joining this one. You can only join one walk officially (though I might have joined a morning and afternoon walk in the past). I’m looking forward to meeting up with frienfs, new and old! The Kelby walks are always so much fun

Thank you, Jason, for helping Robert. For some reason, I’m not receiving notifications for messages posted here. If you message me here on the morning of the walk, I most likely won’t see it, so please try to reach me in advance if you have any questions.
A quick heads-up: I’ve updated the photowalk description because Kirkwood will also be hosting its Fall Fest that day. The festival begins at noon and should bring some additional photography opportunities.
The festival may become extremely crowded, but since we’re meeting at 9:00 a.m., we should hopefully be fine with parking. Additional parking is available in the church parking lot across the street – there is a sign marking it.
