About This Walk
Getting fired up for my third photowalk. Last year we had a lot of fun, so I look forward to leading a walk again this year!
Come join me to walk through historic downtown Venice, Florida! Venice is full of historic charm with buildings from the 1920’s built in the Northern Italian Renaissance style. Downtown Venice is known for its charming main street area and has won numerous awards for it. Many local volunteers work hard to keep it beautiful maintaining many gardens, parks, and landscaping. Venice has a rich history including the Ringling Circus animals and Kentucky Military Institute which wintered here for decades. We will walk by cute little shops, restaurants and coffee shops downtown. During our walk you will see elegant statues, fountains, historic clocks, buildings with Italian architectural details, and streets lined with palm trees.
At 7:15 am we will meet in front of Daiquiri Deck at 300 W Venice Ave, Venice, FL 34285-2001. Daiquiri Deck is at the intersection of W Venice Avenue and Nassau Street N, across the street from Centennial Park. The walk will start at 7:30 am.
There is a large parking lot at Centennial Park on W Venice Ave, and parking on the streets. There is also a small parking lot on Miami Avenue next to Abby’s. All parking is free.
We will walk down the streets of historic downtown: Tampa Ave W, West Venice Ave, and Miami Ave.
After the walk we will gather at Abby’s on Miami at 220 Miami Avenue W, at 9:00 am for a meal. This is a short walk from Centennial Park.
Please send me a message (email or on the walk’s discussion page) to let me know if you plan to join us at the restaurant so I can give the restaurant an accurate head count for reservations. (You are responsible for the cost of your meal.)
This is for all levels of photographers with any type of camera. Bring a tripod if you want to do long exposure images. We will be taking photos during golden hour. I will be here to answer your photography questions, give photography tips, and share the history of my lovely little town.
I am a KelbyOne instructor, and have a class on how to sell prints online using Fine Art America, and a brand new class about marketing and selling your photography. I’m a professional landscape and cityscape photographer living in Venice, Florida. I have a Master of Photography with a background in art education, was an art teacher for 9 years, worked with Serge Ramelli, and now teach photography online.
