About This Walk
Join me for a photowalk through historic downtown Gainesville Florida. From the classic 1910 Thomas Center, to the modern recreation of Depot Park, this walk is sure to provide you with plenty of opportunities for great photos!
I am Wesley, your guide for the 2023 Worldwide photo walk in Gainesville Florida. I have previously led 4 Worldwide Photo Walks, and I am excited to lead my 5th walk this year. I am 46 years young and a lifelong Gainesville resident. I became more serious about photography around 10 years ago with the purchase of my first DSLR, a Canon T4i.
You may have seen some of my work, I have been published by Visit Gainesville to promote our lovely town. I have I have also had work published by places like the University of Florida and IFLScience.
Since that first DSLR in 2013, I have dipped my toes back into the film world, and I also have been exploring the modern world of mirrorless cameras from 4/3 to full-frame. And now I seem to have picked up an obsession with old CCD digicams of 15-20 years ago. If it can capture an image I want to try it!

We will meet at the Historic Thomas Center by the fountain. Once we take a group photo to remember the day we will spend some time around the Thomas Center to capture images of the architecture and garden area.
From there we will make our way South through downtown Gainesville, hitting a few favorite spots of mine along the way as we arrive at our destination, Depot Park.
But the images don’t stop there, I invite you to explore all of the photo opportunities Depot Park has to offer. From the Historic Rail Station, to the paved nature trail, to the unique architecture of the Cade Museum, and more, there are surely some great shots to be found!
When we finish exploring Depot Park I invite you to join the group for a drink at the Boxcar, where we can get to know each other more and share our experience of the day.

Hello everybody, its a little over an hour before our walk begins. I hope you all are getting ready. Get some comfortable clothing and don’t forget memory cards and batteries! See you by the fountain at the Thomas Center.
I want to apologize for leaving early. My mother started feeling sick and I decided to get her out of the heat and home. I am so sorry I missed it. I will try again next year. Thank you so much for hosting the walk. It was great to meet you all.
