About This Walk
Hi All. The Worldwide PhotoWalk is back! Based on conversations and the poll that I sent out to many of last year’s walkers, the Avila Valley Barn in San Luis Obispo came in as first choice for this year’s walk. This location truly highlights our life here on the Central Coast in the Fall. There are always beautiful fall displays; pumpkins, gourds, hayrides, produce stands, farm animals, roasted corn on the cob, great people watching and more. The Avila Valley Barn is a true working farm. Our walk will begin and end at the barn. We’ll meet at 9:30 at the parking lot, do a group photo and we’ll end a couple hours or so later to chat and have lunch at the ‘Chicken Shack and Smokehouse’ which offers meat and vegetarian options, fresh pressed cider and drinks. If you’re so inclined, we can also have dessert at their ice cream shop! We can explore the grounds by foot, or you can even take the hayride around the property. Below is information from the Avila Valley Barn’s website. I hope to see you there. I haven’t seen many of you in quite a while and I am looking forward to meeting some new folks as well! I will provide updates over the coming weeks as we get closer to the walk. In event of rain, we will likely move the walk to downtown San Luis Obispo later in the day which would be more conducive in wet weather. #WWPW2026

A favorite stop for fresh locally grown fruit and vegetables, homemade pies and bakery treats, hand-feeding farm animals, riding through the orchards on a tractor trailer, jumping on a pony, lunch from the Chicken Shack and Smoke House, or an ice cream on the way to Avila Beach, Avila Valley Barn is truly a place built with the whole family in mind.
From tractor rides and hay mazes to hand-feeding friendly farm animals, there’s always something to discover at Avila Valley Barn. Depending on the season, families can enjoy U-pick berries and flowers, fresh corn from the roasting stand, pony rides, great food, and the full charm of a working barn experience. Whether you’re stopping by for the afternoon or making a day of it, there’s something for every age to enjoy.

Hello Walkers! I just wanted to remind you that tomorrow is the last day to enter the global competition. Entries close at 11:59 PM EDT. If you haven’t yet uploaded your one favorite shot, now’s the time! Also, some of you have, and there are some great photos, but for those of you who haven’t, don’t forget to upload some of your favorite photos to our ‘personal’ Flickr page. If you don’t have a Flickr account, it is free to set up. Create your account, upload your photos to your own page, then visit the group page and upload images to the group page directly from your personal page. Lastly, thank you for joining the Avila Valley Barn walk. I enjoyed meeting some new friends and visiting with others I haven’t seen in a while. Right now, based on comments, it looks like next year we’ll probably walk in downtown San Luis Obispo, unless something else exciting comes up, starting in the late afternoon, to capture some daylight shots, then capture lots of great after dark opportunities and enjoy dinner together. Hi all! It was so fun walking with you today, seeing some old friends and making new ones! You may now submit your ‘one’ favorite photo taken during the walk to be entered into the worldwide competition. They have changed how it works, I will also be entering with you, the leaders are now included in the contest. They also changed, the leaders don’t choose their favorite shot of the walk to submit into the competition, which is much better, now not just one person from each walk is entered, everyone, is entered. Way better! So, you have until October 17th to enter your favorite image. But…..following is a link to this year’s Flickr page where all of us can upload all our favorite shots. It’s always fun to see what each person saw and photographed. This page will remain active forever! If you are not a Flickr member you can create an account for free. You then load your images onto your page and then to the group page. Sounds complicated, but it really isn’t! Hello 2026 WWPW Walkers! We’re just about here, tomorrow is the big day! I look forward to walking the grounds of the Avila Valley Barn with you and creating some fun images, chatting and when we’re done, a relaxing lunch, corn on the cob or ice cream! Our weather as you all know is on the warm side, so dress accordingly. You may want to bring water, but they do have sodas, water and juices available for sale. There are a lot of photo ops in the shade and/or in the barn shops as well. We’ll see you at 9:30 tomorrow morning!
