About This Walk

Welcome to my Coney Island Photowalk!

I am a New Jersey based photographer and I’ve been shooting professionally for 30 years. This will be the seventh photowalk I’ll be leading and the second one in Coney Island.

Coney Island is best known for its amusement parks, past and present. Its long history started in the mid-nineteenth century as a resort and entertainment destination. Much has changed over the years, but it still holds a mystique with unique attractions, from vintage to the strange to kitschy, but all with fun in mind. There’s the landmarked Parachute Jump, the Wonder Wheel and Cyclone (96 years old this year!), the boardwalk with its cast of characters, games of chance and of course, Nathan’s Famous.

Many of the attractions remain open on weekends through October and is less crowded this time of year. They’ll be plenty of colorful photo opportunities to be found at this salt-aired, somewhat seedy, seashore town.

More details will follow in the coming weeks. I will provide a suggested walking map and confirm a place to gather for a bite to eat and drink after the walk, for those interested. In the meantime, sign-up and join me for a photowalk at “America’s Playground”.
