About This Walk
The Photo Walk will begin at Buckingham Fountain where we will shoot the fountain, the surrounding area, and the Chicago skyline. We’ll walk along the lakefront to the Campus Museum taking shots along the way finishing up on the lakefront near Adler Planetarium. We will shoot landscapes, cityscapes, street photography, plants, boats, sunset, and whatever catches our eye.
The walk is open to all skill levels. Whether you use your phone, have a point and shoot, use a DSLR, or a mirrorless camera, everyone is welcome to join in the fun. We had many cell phone shooters on last year’s walk and they produced great images. This is a judgement free zone. This event is designed for the sole purpose of getting fresh air, making new friends, bonding with current friends, and having fun!
There is parking neat Grant park, if you are not using public transportation. I highly recommend spot hero if driving. There is public trans or you can pool up to share a cab or uber back to your parking area. I’ll be there and am happy to help navigate this if the walk back isn’t an option.
If shooing with a camera, I would recommend a lens that is somewhat wide. 24-70 or a 50mm. For later, a zoom lens to capture the city from the planetarium. 80-400 or something along those lines. I also suggest a tripod or platypod for when sunset dims the natural lighting.
