About This Walk

Greetings fellow photographers, afoot! Our photo walk will begin at Pasadena’s Grant Park, 232 South Michigan. We will meet at the southwest corner of the park, which is located at Michigan Ave and Blanche St. There is two hour street parking. The park offers photo opportunities…  and also restroom facilities!

Our photo walk will head towards the Caltech Campus. Caltech has a range of architecture from the early 1920s to the present including the 1964 Beckman Auditorium, a solar observatory dome, the 2006 deconstructionist Cahill Astrophysics building and the home of of Caltech’s Seismology building, well known for Dr. Luch Jones live dissemination of earthquake information.  We’ll traverse the campus passing fascinating landscape, water features, flora and massive native oak trees adding to the university’s appeal. A bonus treat is that one of the co-leaders worked on campus and is chock-full of interesting tidbits.

We will then wander down a treelined street with colorful mid-century garden apartments, Spanish Style bungalows and will pay homage to one of the largest known Engelmann Oak trees, a.k.a. Pasadena Oak.

We’ll loop back around to Grant Park and unpack our scenic adventure together for those that want to indulge at a quaint corner bakery/market for coffee and homemade mouthwatering snacks. We look forward to sharing a hidden gem of our city and viewing your photos taken along the way. Thank you for your participation and we are looking forward to our photography adventure with you.
