Boise Downtown at Dusk Photowalk – Saturday, October 4, 2025

Start: Cecil D Andrus Park, 601 W Jefferson St, Boise, ID 83702 – 4:30 PM

End: The Warehouse Food Hall, 370 S 8th St – 7:30 PM

Distance: ~3 miles | Duration: ~2–3 hours

Route & Stops

1. Idaho State Capitol (4:30–4:50 PM)

• Architecture, reflective pools, fall colors

Tip: Use wide-angle lens, capture symmetry and reflections

2. Grove Plaza & 8th Street (4:50–5:10 PM)

• Urban street scenes, shops, murals

Tip: Try candid street shots, look for textures

3. Downtown Murals (5:10–5:30 PM)

• Colorful murals, creative urban spaces

Tip: Play with angles, frames, and contrast

4. Boise River Greenbelt via 8th St Bridge (5:30–5:50 PM)

• River reflections, tree-lined paths, wildlife

Tip: Long exposures for water, wildlife shots

5. Julia Davis Park (5:50–6:30 PM)

• Rose Garden, Boise Art Museum, sculptures

Tip: Portraits and nature compositions

6. Broad Street ( 6:30–6:50 PM )

  • Newer buildings, restaurants

Tip: Silhouettes, cityscape at golden hour

7. The Warehouse Food Hall (7:00–7:30 PM)

• Diverse food options, casual and group-friendly

• Vendors: pizza, Mediterranean, BBQ, desserts, coffee, cocktails

Tips for Participants

• Bring a mix of lenses: wide, 50mm, telephoto.

• Comfortable shoes; mostly paved walk, some park paths.

• Golden hour: 4:30–6:00 PM for best outdoor light.

• Experiment with reflections, shadows, silhouettes.

• Bring a tripod for long exposure shots for blur effects, light trail or just for a sharper image under low light conditions.

    Excited for our Photowalk! If you’d like to enter the contest, here’s what I’ll be looking for in your shots—and how they’ll be scored:

    Judging Criteria (1–5 points each):
    • Creativity & Originality – Show a fresh perspective or unique view
    • Composition & Visual Impact – Use framing, patterns, and light to make your photo pop
    • Emotional Connection / Storytelling – Capture a moment that tells a story or sparks emotion
    • Technical Quality – Sharp focus, good exposure, and nice color/contrast

    Total possible points: 20

    Have fun, experiment with angles, and capture what inspires you! I’ll review all submissions after the walk and announce the winners.
