About This Walk
We will have a quick hello & orientation just inside the Old Salem Visitor’s Center. Starting the 2.5-mile photowalk, we will cross the 4-lane using the covered bridge.
Turn left (north) on S Main St, walking through Old Salem historic area. Continue into downtown W-S walking north on N Main St.
Cross US-421, then in a few blocks turn left (west) on W 3rd St.
In one block turn left (south) on N Liberty St.
In two blocks, turn left (east) on W 1st St.
In two blocks, turn right (south) on N Church St. Continue straight, and Church Street turns into God’s Acre walking path, continue on the path.
When the path ends, continue straight on S Church St.
Turn right (west) on E Walnut St to return to the parking lot.
Tickets may be purchased for access to Old Salem buildings, demonstrations, etc., after the walk, either at the Visitor’s Center or at the Winkler Bakery in Old Salem.
Places to eat afterward, in addition to Winkler Bakery and the Muddy Creek Cafe in Old Salem, include Bobby Boy Bakery, Grandpa Joe’s Slaberia, District 924 Soul Food, and East of Texas BBQ.
