Where We Will Meet

Meet at the gate to the entrance of the Skatepark.

Where The Walk Will End

Return to parked cars and meet at the Depot on Magnolia.

About This Walk

Meet at the Ocala Skatepark to witness the action of skaters & skateboarders of all ages, where you’ll be able to freeze the action or blur the speed of the athletes. We’ll then walk to the Reilly Arts Center for some shots of the colorful building facade and take in some graffiti art walls along the way. Then on to Tuscawilla Park where the centerpiece pond hosts an abundant array of waterfowl of all kinds, picturesque Live Oaks bedecked with Spanish moss that sways in the breeze, and trademark Florida palm trees mingle together in perfect harmony. We’ll then cross the park at the opposite end of the pond and photograph the larger than life sculpture pieces at the Tuscawilla Art Park. Be sure to not miss the Ocala train depot for some unique architectural captures. After a short walk back to your parked cars, we’ll meet at the Depot on Magnolia restaurant for some well-earned refueling (optional). Please let me know if you plan to join us at the restaurant so I can give the restaurant an accurate head count for reservations. (You are responsible for the cost of your meal.)

No matter your skill level, from DSLR cameras, mirrorless, point & shoot, and even cellphone cameras, you’ll enjoy this morning with your fellow photographers, have some fun and exercise, and maybe learn a tip or two.

Be sure to wear comfortable shoes (the total walking distance is 1.3 miles), bring some water, a hat, and because we’re in Florida, some bug repellent. This is a mostly flat and paved walk to be taken at a leisurely pace.

Your photo walk leader is Pam Winter. I have been a professional, award winning photographer for 40 years and currently lead the photo club in my retirement community in southwest Ocala, where I encourage everyone on how to take better pictures. I’ll answer all your photography questions and provide tips and tricks to improve your skills. I know we’re going to have a lot of fun and I cannot wait to meet you.
