About This Walk

Welcome to the Celery Fields in Out East Sarasota County, Florida! Please join us as we explore the Celery Fields and the nature that thrives on this 400 acre+ land that is also a primary storm water collection zone. Saturday, October 4th, 2025, also marks the day that the bird feeders will come out of summer storage and the Nanday Parakeets have been hovering around their favorite spots waiting for their food. The Audubon Society volunteers will be available for questions about 9:00 AM.

Your walk leader is Janet Combs (that’s me!) and I am serial WorldWide PhotoWalk Leader, a local photojournalist with several publications, and I am a photographer. I enjoy the life freelancing has to offer and travel often (#atripamonth). With a Sarasota society/gossip column in Your Observer called Black Tie and Tales I have my cameras ready 24/7 and an ear to the ground for the latest buzz. As an educator with ACE Sarasota, I enjoy helping others fine tune their craft no matter what genre of photography.

This walk is being held early AM to try and beat the heat and secure parking.  Please wear comfy hiking clothes, bring hydration, wear sunscreen if needed and be prepared for any kind of weather. Please reach out to me directly if one of the ‘canes gets close if you have questions. Looking forward to meeting all of you! See you then!
