About This Walk
Hey there Photo Friends!
This walk will take place at Piney lake in the afternoon on Oct 5. The Fall colors should be beautiful and maybe if we are lucky we will spot a moose or two.
We will meet at Lionshead Parking garage in Vail and carpool/caravan up to Piney Lake. We will do our walk around the lake/recreation area and plan to come back to Vail around 5pm. We can decide to meet up for chat and appetizers in the Village after the walk.
I will not be able to make the walk on Oct 5th. I previously signed up so I am emailing to cancel.

I am curious how many are attending this walk? How long is the hike around the lake? I’m coming from out of state any special equipment needed for the hike?
Just checking to see if the Piney Lake Photowalk is still a “go”? I’ll be driving from Steamboat Springs.
Hello Everyone,
We are planning to have this walk on Sat Oct 5, meeting in Vail at 2:30pm at the top of the Lionshead parking structure. We will meet at the top of the stairs which is at the South west corner of the top level of the parking structure. When you drive into the structure drive all the way to the west end of the lot and then turn left to go get the other side of the lot close to the stairs.
It takes about 45 min to get to Piney Lake from the parking structure. We will do a casual walk around the lake area. There is a path that goes up past the lake and could be longer hike but we are not planning to go very far past the lake. there is a recreation area right at the lake side that typically has many photo opportunities.
Be prepared to walk a short amount on hard ground, so tennis shoes or light hiking shoes, you don’t need hiking poles, but can bring them if you want. For photo equipment bring your camera and tripod if you have a tripod. you don’t necessarily need a tripod if you don’t want to bring it. there are lots of nice landscape photo opportunities that work well with tripod setups. if you have a longer lens, bring that as well, we may get some wildlife opportunities as well. Last time we were up there, we saw moose playing in the lake.
We will walk around the lake area for an hour or so and then head back to the parking structure. We will decide time allowing if we want to meet up at Garfinkles in Lionshead village for some optional socializing when we are done with the walk.
it’s a beautiful day for a photo walk! See you at 2:30 at the top of the Lionshead Parking structure!
Not sure if anyone is checking this still or not, Bob – A glasses case was found in Rick’s car, did you or your wife misplace this? please send me an email if so my email is mishamax@comcast.net
