Where We Will Meet

DuPont Historical Museum

Where The Walk Will End

McNamara's Pub and Eatery, 1595 Wilmington Drive, DuPont

About This Walk

DuPont, Washington, was founded in 1906 by the E.I. DuPont deNemours Co. Dynamite was manufactured here until the 1970s. What is now known as the Historic Village is a walkable community of early 20th century buildings, a colorful history museum, woodland trails, and resident wildlife. We’ll end our photowalk with libations at DuPont’s local Irish pub McNamara’s.

Be sure to check the “Discussion” and “Updates” sections here. I posted links to a map of the historic village, info about the Dupont Historical Museum, and a photo gallery on Flickr to share walk photos.

If and when you share your images on social media, be sure to use the tag: #WWPW2024

Contest deadline now Oct. 18October 14th, 2024

Hey! You have more time to enter the contest. Everybody must have at least one! And there’s a people’s choice award, so we can all vote for our team! Just go to our walk and there should be a link to Slickpic. So far, Eldon is the only one who entered and that was just one entry – you can add 5.

Today is contest deadlineOctober 12th, 2024

Hey all! No one in our group has entered photos in the walk contest. I just looked at the Washington groups and only two photographers have entered work. I would encourage you to choose your best photos and upload them. Why? There’s also a people’s choice vote. The award is a one-year membership in Kelby One, which has some wonderful tutorials and preset tools you can add to Photoshop. I entered one photo (all I’m allowed) in the leader competition. The Kelby office got hit with hurricane damage (they’re in Tampa) so there’s no one in the office to ask questions about the contest. In past years, the leader was also asked to select best photos from the walk. I’m not sure if we’re doing that or not (no one to ask at Kelby right now). If you go to the walk website, there will be a link to submit your photos. There are just 4 of us with work in the Flickr gallery right now. Send photos you’d like me to include to kate@dupontwaphoto.com. You can also download photos of our group here: https://flic.kr/s/aHBqjBL2GA

Send photos for Flickr galleryOctober 6th, 2024

I added some of my favorites from our photowalk to the Flickr gallery. The photos of our group are designated “public domain” so you should be able to download, if you’d like any of them. Send the photos you’d like to include in the gallery to kate@dupontwaphoto.com I’ll add © Your Name to the description. The gallery is here: https://flic.kr/s/aHBqjBL2GA

Also, if you’d like me to add you to the mailing list for the SequaliShoot (June 7-8) photo challenge, you can do that here: https://dupontwaphoto.com/photo-experiences/

By the way, I emailed the Kelby group. There’s no hyperlink for the contest yet (they posted that it would be live on the day of the walk). But the contest page says October 7.

I had a great time yesterday! Loved meeting you all! Thanks for coming out!

When to meet for photowalkOctober 4th, 2024

Hey photogs! I’m planning to be at the DuPont Historical Museum about 2 p.m. Our walk starts at 2:30 but I’ll hang around the museum until 2:45 for folks running late. Early arrivals can check out the museum and grounds. Restrooms are available at Iafrati Park, which you’ll see to your left as you enter the historic village on Barksdale. There is also a restroom in the museum, which will be open until 4. I have maps printed out for everyone (there are 11 of us for the walk). We have a table reserved at McNamara’s for 5 p.m. They can accommodate more than the 11 of us, if you’re bringing family or friends. See you tomorrow!

Need headcount for McNamara’sOctober 2nd, 2024

Hey photogs! There are currently 9 of us, so I want to get a headcount. Please email me at kate@dupontwaphoto.com to let me know if you’re going to join us. Also, if you have family or friends tagging along. I have a reservation at McNamara’s for 8 people and will change it once I hear from everyone. Also be sure to check the discussion section. I added some resources for our walk. I also created a gallery on Flickr for anyone who wants to share photos on social media.
