About This Walk

This years map of the route

The 2025 Worldwide Photowalk we will be revisiting some of the areas of Copenhagen that we walked 10 years ago. That walk was the first time we walked outside the city centre and the feedback I got from the walkers that year, made me think it couldn’t hurt to revisit part of that route.

Over the years, I’ve been more and more ambitious as to the distance we could cover in the timespan of the three hours our walk is supposed to be concluded in, and the last years, with a distance between 6 and 6.5 km, it has been too much. So this year, I have scaled the distance down to only 4 km. From Østerport Stati0n, across Kastellet, passing Marmorkirken (Frederiks Kirke), Amalienborg Castle, Ofelia Plads, Nyhavn and ending at Kongens Nytorv Metro. After the walk we will be gathering at Espresso House on Kongens Nytorv. The entire wall (including ample time to make all the photographs you want) should be about 2 hours and 45 minutes.

After the walk, those who are interested, can join up for a cup of coffee, tea or something else at Espresso House, the corner of Kongens Nytorv and Store Kongensgade.

What will you see on this years walk?

My wife and I have made a test-walk, to make sure the timings indicated on the map are as close to correct as we imaagine they will be, when we actually walk the Photowalk on Saturday October 4th.

We started out at Østerport Station a 14.00 (2pm), and we ended up at Kongens Nytorv at 16.45 (4.45 pm). We took our time, made a lot of photographs along the way, and here are a few samples of what we saw along the way:

Photowalk Tips & Tricks

For our walk in 2023, I prepared a few tips and tricks, with a handful of suggestions for those interested. The idea is to challenge us all to make the most of this upcoming Photowalk, as well as the photographs we will be making in the future. The tips and tricks are still very relevant and valid.

Is there a limit to the number of participants?

Previous years, there have been a limit of 50 walkers for each walk in cities around the world. Last year however, this limit was removed, and 70 walkers ended up signing up for the Copenhagen walk. However, I do not know if this was an error, and the limit might return this year, or if this is a permanent thing.

If you sign up, and are notified that you’ve been placed on the waiting list, do not be discouraged. As we get closer to October 4th., I will be sending out reminders and ask people to remove themselves, if they find they are unable to attend anyway, and give up their spot to someone on the waiting list. Thus you might find yourself bumped up from the waiting list, so hang in there.

Even if you remain on the waiting list at the day of the walk, feel free to show up anyway. Although you wont be able to participate in the competition part of the walk will be still be able to walk with the rest of us, and can still share your images in our Facebook group.

Connect with your fellow walkers

If you would like to stay connected (also between walks year by year), you are free to join our  community on Facebook (www.facebook.com/groups/wwpwcph/).

This is also where you can share all the images you will be shooting on this years Worldwide Photowalk.

I am SO looking forward to seeing you on Saturday October 4th 😊

With best regards

  1. Quick update: The number of people that can sign up is now confirmed to be a maximum of 50, so a few of you already found yourself on the waiting list. However….

  2. Hi everyone.

We are now two weeks away from this year’s Worldwide Photowalk, where tens of thousands of people meet up in cities around the world, to spend a few hours in the company of people that also enjoy photography, be that with a large camera, a pocket camera or a smartphone.

Each year, there is a competition part of the walk with some great prizes (https://worldwidephotowalk.com/prizes/), but the walk is not just about prizes, it is also an opportunity to Springs Of Hope Orphanage in Kenya, a home and education center for orphaned children who need our help. Participating in the Worldwide Photowalk is free, but donations are greatly appreciated (https://worldwidephotowalk.com/donate/).

As for participating in the competition part of the walk, only the first 50 that have signed up for the walk can participate. Therefore, I ask that if you are unable to attend for whatever reason, please remove yourself from the participants list, to make room for some of the people that are currently on the waiting list.

And to those on the waiting list, as we usually see people on the walk roster remove themselves, you will automatically be moved up from the waiting list. And even if you are not moved to the roster, please feel free to show up anyway. Past years we have been as many as 70+ people participating, and we don’t want anyone to feel left out.

I have people that assist me on the walk, and we can manage a large group just fine.

Looking forward to seeing you all in a couple of weeks.

  3. Looking forward to seeing all of you on Saturday. As of right now, it seems we might get a few drops of rain, but fear not: Some of the BEST photographs are not necessarily made under clear skies. As we get closer to Saturday the forecast may actually change (which it often does). Just prepare accordingly and bring a raincoat if need be.

65 people have signed up (15 on the waiting list), and as only the first 50 will have an opportunity to participate in the photography contest part of the walk, I ask anyone that does NOT plan to attend to remove themselves from the roster, to make room for someone on the waiting list. You can do so at the place you signed up.

Those on the waiting list are – as usual – more than welcome to show up and join us 😊

  4. I unfortunately can’t join as my cold has gotten worse overnight.
I’m trying to free up my space but I can’t find the Leave walk button anywhere.

  5. Due to the weather (rain and strong winds), a lot of you have asked, how to unregister for this years walk. It appears that the website removed the ability to unregister on the day of the walk.

And although I DO think that bad weather allows for great photography, I do also acknowledge, that for many, that may not be as important as the social aspect of these yearly Photowalks.

Given the latest forecasts, I don’t think there is much of a chance for the weather to improve in any meaningful way. I am STILL going to show up, and I am willing to (at the time) take a vote between the people that DO show up, if we should complete the walk, or perhaps find a coffee shop or cafe, and spend a few hours together, just having a good time in socializing and enjoying each others company.

Either way, I WILL be planning a repeat of todays planned walk around springtime, where we might have a better chance of good weather.

SO – if you decide to come today, and prefer to just talk about photography, I will be more than happy to share my insights and answer any and all questions you might have. Feel free to show up just to have some fun talking about photography ❤️

  6. Hej Henrik.
Jeg kommer ikke idag. Vejret er for dårligt. Jeg tager til The Art Fair istedet. Jeg vil rigtig gerne med til foråret og måske også deltage i den af dine workshops.
    Mange hilsner
    Kim
