About This Walk

This photo walk has something for everyone!

We’ll meet in Parking Lot 6 at the corner of W Francis Street and S Henry St. at 8:30 am. (GPS: 37°16’9.186″ N 76°42’22.548″ W)

Then, we’ll start our walk with a visit to the award-winning Williamsburg Farmers Market. You’ll find beautifully arranged seasonal food and products, the occasional family dog, and maybe even a bearded dragon.

Next, we’ll travel back 250 years as we wander down Duke of Gloucester Street in Colonial Williamsburg. Our mid-morning destination is the Capitol, at the end of DoG Street. Along the way, we’ll see interpreters in period costumes, colonial architecture, and perhaps George Washington on horseback. At 11 am, we’ll gather on the Palace Green for a group photo in front of the Governor’s Palace.

Finally, we’ll end our walk at Blue Talon Bistro, where we’ll enjoy an optional early lunch and chat about our photos. If you’d like to stay for lunch, we’ll be finished by about 12:30 or 1:00.

You do not need to purchase a ticket to walk through Colonial Williamsburg; there’s plenty to shoot outdoors. However, tickets are necessary to enter the gardens and exhibitions. You can buy one online or at a ticket booth that we pass. If you’re local and have a Good Neighbor Pass, be sure to bring it. If it’s raining… the exhibitions are the place to stay dry… The Farmers Market is open, rain or shine.

I’m looking forward to meeting everyone! I’m a Williamsburg-based travel photographer, blogger and educator. You can learn more about me on my website: carolinemaryan.com. I’ve been on Worldwide Photo Walks in Virginia and Seoul, South Korea, and this will be the sixth time I’ve led this WWPW.
