Bozeman – Story Mill Park – Camera Club of Bozeman

Meet at Story Mill Community Park. We’ll meet up at 10:00 AM and spend a couple of hours exploring the grounds together. Story Mill has a little bit of everything to photograph, from the old mill buildings and industrial details to the play areas, restored wetlands, winding trails, and views of the Bridger Mountains.

If you want a little extra challenge, see if you can capture these along the way:

• See It Differently — Photograph a familiar subject in a way you wouldn’t normally photograph it.
• Unexpected Composition — Create a composition that doesn’t feel like the obvious way to photograph the scene.
• A Different Point of View — Find a viewpoint that changes how the subject is perceived.
• The Photograph Nobody Else Took — Find something you suspect most of the group will completely overlook.
• Photograph Something You Would Normally Ignore — Find interest in something you’d normally walk right past.
• Limited Palette — Create an image where a small number of colors dominate the scene.
• Light Changes Everything — Find a scene where the quality or direction of light changes how you see it.
• Tell a Story Without Words — Create an image that makes the viewer wonder what happened, is happening, or might happen next.
• Wait for It — Find a scene and wait for something to happen that changes the photograph.
• Spell Your Name — Find letters in your surroundings and see if you can spell your name by the end of the walk.

Around noon, we’ll head right across the street to Ghost Town Coffee Roasters (104 Bridger Center Drive) to grab coffee or lunch. Bring your camera or phone inside so we can share and talk about some of the shots we caught during the morning.

There is no strict agenda—just a good opportunity to get outside and take some pictures!
