About This Walk
Getting fired up for my fourth photowalk. Last year we had a lot of fun, so I look forward to leading a walk again this year!
Come join me to photograph at my favorite place to take photos: the Fishing Pier in Venice, Florida! We will be here from golden hour, sunset, to blue hour. The pier extends 700 feet into the Gulf and offers incredible views of the beach and the lively tiki bar, Sharky’s.
At 6:30 pm we will meet in front of Sharky’s on the Pier restaurant at 1600 Harbor Drive South, Venice, FL 34285. Meet me by the big awning where you see the greeter and valet. The walk will start at 6:45 pm. The pier is right behind Sharky’s.
There is a large parking lot at Sharky’s and parking across the street. There is a second parking lot right next to Sharky’s at the beach (entrance is to the north of Sharky’s). All parking is free.
We will start by walking down to the end of the pier to get long distance views of Sharky’s and the beach at golden hour. At sunset and blue hour we will walk on the beach to photograph the pier as the sun goes down. After sunset it’s fun to photograph Sharky’s when their lights come on. Sometimes live music plays outdoors at Sharky’s.
After the walk at 8:00 pm we will gather at Sharky’s on the Pier for a meal. This is the tiki bar restaurant right at the entrance of the pier. They have covered outdoor seating and amazing rooftop views of the beach.
Please RSVP as soon as possible for the meal as reservation spaces fill up quickly at Sharky’s. RSVP by emailing me at lieslwalsh@gmail.com or leaving a message on the walk discussion page to let me know if you plan to join us at the restaurant. (You are responsible for the cost of your meal.)
This is for all levels of photographers with any type of camera. Bring a tripod and remote shutter release if you want to take long exposure photos of the water and photos in lower light after sunset. Bringing a neutral density filter is optional because you can do longer shutter speeds without one as the sun goes down. I will be here to answer your photography questions and give photography tips.
We will be walking in sand on the beach so wear comfortable shoes you don’t mind getting sandy.
I am a KelbyOne instructor, and have a class on KelbyOne about how to sell prints online using Fine Art America, and a class about marketing and selling your photography. I’m a professional landscape and cityscape photographer living in Venice, Florida. I have a Master of Photography with a background in art education, was an art teacher for 9 years, worked with Serge Ramelli, and now teach photography online.
