About This Walk

Welcome to the Scott Kelby Worldwide Photowalk at Greenville’s Falls Park! I’m glad you registered and look forward to spending the morning exploring and photographing one of Greenville’s most scenic areas together.

This is a two-hour photowalk open to photographers of all experience levels — whether you’re a hobbyist, working professional, or simply someone who enjoys taking photos. And there’s no need for special equipment. Bring whatever camera you enjoy using, whether that’s your phone, a film camera, DSLR, or mirrorless camera.

Meeting Time & Location

Please arrive at Tate Plaza at 9:15 a.m. so we have time to meet one another, say hello, and go over a few logistics before beginning the walk at 9:30 a.m. We’ll return to Tate Plaza at approximately 11:30 a.m.

Our Route

Falls Park and the surrounding Reedy River area offer a great mix of landscapes, architecture, natural details, people, and everyday Greenville scenes.

We’ll begin at Tate Plaza, walk across the Liberty Bridge, and head upstream along the east bank of the Reedy River toward the Wyche Pavilion area. From there, we’ll cross back over the river and work our way toward Falls Park, passing underneath the Liberty Bridge before continuing downstream to the Medusa Tree.

We’ll then make our way back to Tate Plaza to finish the walk. Along the way, look for opportunities to capture both wide environmental scenes and smaller details that catch your attention. Part of the fun of a photowalk is seeing how differently each photographer interprets the same surroundings.

Photographing People

Falls Park is a public space and will likely be busy. If you photograph identifiable people, please be respectful and ask permission when appropriate.  Please also be mindful of Worldwide Photowalk contest guidelines regarding restricted subjects, including children and vendors.

A Few Things to Keep in Mind

Because we’ll be walking through an active public area, stay aware of streets, sidewalks, pathways, cyclists, pedestrians, and vendor areas. Keep an eye on your equipment, and consider traveling light since we’ll be moving throughout the park.

If you plan to submit an image to the Scott Kelby Worldwide Photowalk contest, remember that the photo must be taken during our official photowalk.
