About This Walk

PHOTOG (Photographers of Tulsa Oklahoma Group) is joining the world for this walk. Our group has participated in the Worldwide Photowalk many times, and this will be my first time to lead it. My name is Kathy Desruisseau and I am the Director of Events for our club. In addition to our members, we hope that anyone interested from the area will join us.

We will be photographing the neon signs in the evening in the Pearl District of Tulsa along RT66. This area is home to many famous RT66 signs all within walking distance to each other.  Located here is the Meadow Gold Giant neon sign advertising milk — built in 1934 – and is a Route 66 landmark – among many other neon signs.

We will begin with dinner at Jane’s Delicatessen on RT66. This will be a great way to mingle, and for those joining the Photographers of Tulsa Oklahoma Group for the first time, a way to get acquainted. Following dinner, we will head outside to photograph the area’s neon signs.  A tripod will be needed to photograph the neon signs so be sure to bring one.

We will walk along RT66 between 11th and Peoria to 11th and S. St Louis Ave, which is only 3 tenths of a mile, with signs on each side.  From Jane’s Delicatessen we will walk east along the north side of the street to 11th and S. St Louis, cross and walk back along the southside to the western end of the Pearl District at 11th and Peoria.

We will not have a formal gathering following the walk since we began with dinner so feel free to leave when you are done.
