About This Walk
The downtown, Spring Park, St. John’s Ave, and surrounding walk able areas are rich with history. The walk is scheduled to take place in the evening after the worst of the heat of a Florida summer afternoon has started to cool down. The typical Saturday summer’s evening in GCS means that Spring Park will be filled with families enjoying a nice evening. Please be respectful of people!
The walk will center on the waterfront area but St. John’s Ave. is loaded with very cool old architecture houses. St.Mary’s Episcopal Church is a short 4 block walk down St. John’s Ave. There are some very nice looking scenes further down St. John’s with a great canopy of Spanish moss on massive oaks near Walburg St and St. John’s. Suggested footwear is a good pair of shoes, shorts, and a cool top/shirt.
In the event of rain/lightning/etc this walk will be cancelled.
