About This Walk
Explore two of Lower Manhattan’s most striking locations: the soaring architecture and shifting light of the Oculus, followed by the quiet reflection of the 9/11 Memorial. We’ll look for grand perspectives, intimate details, candid moments, and the contrast between movement and stillness.
Whether it’s your first visit or your fiftieth, there will be plenty to see through a different lens.
Without a doubt, The Oculus is my favorite photo location in NYC. I visit there at least once a month and come away with something new each time.
In terms of what gear to bring, I’d suggest a wide angle lens and something a bit longer. A telephoto zoom would be perfect! I usually use my 24-105 or 24-240 there. Also, your iPhone will be perfect there. Leave your tripod home as they are NOT permitted at The Oculus. Wear comfortable shoes as we will be walking a bit. We’re on rain or shine, so dress accordingly.
When we are done, we’ll grab lunch at the Brookfield Place Food Court a short walk away.
