About This Walk
Sunrise is 6:09. We will meet up at Franklin Square at 5:30, and immediately head out toward the Ben Franklin Bridge’s Walkway (which opens at 6:00 am)
We will walk on the Bridge capturing Sunrise Photos. After we walk on the bridge’s walkway, we will wander through Old City Philadelphia, regrouping at Independence Hall area.
Yes, this is an early morning walk — so you get the best morning light for wonderful photographs.
In 2016, I lead Worldwide PhotoWalk with the same start point (and start time). The participants photos were excellent. We had a lot of fun in 2016.
Getting Ready for our Upcoming WalkAugust 7th, 2022
The 2022 World Wide Photo Walk is coming this Saturday, August 13th.
We have a few people signed up, and I am looking forward to meeting all of you on Saturday.
Yes, we have an early start, 5:30 am – meeting at the corner of 6th and Race Streets.
I just want us to be able to catch Sunrise photos.
The Walkway on the Ben Franklin Bridge officially opens at 6:00 am, and sunrise is officially at 6:09. So, catching some great sunrise photos should be fun.
As for the rules and guidelines of our walk, here are the main ones:
1) Safety First. Always make sure what you are doing is safe. No hanging off dangerous places – no picture is worth risking your safety.
2) Have Fun. The whole point of the WorldWide Photo Walk is to have a relaxing, fun adventure with similarly minded photographers.
3) Experiment and learn. This is not a paid assignment. Use this as an opportunity to experiment with new techniques. Try settings you were not sure of. See with the other photographers are doing and see if you can learn from each other. Be both a student and a teacher to the others on this walk.
The actual route of the walk is very loose. We will start at the same place. After spending as much time as you want on the Ben Franklin Bridge, you will start walking toward Independence Hall (5th and Chestnut). Walk up and down 2nd, 3rd, 4th or 5th streets, maybe going back in forth. There are many photographic opportunities for you to find.
What camera gear should you bring? One big hint, whatever camera gear you start with, you will be carrying the entire Photo Walk. There will be no safe place to leave camera gear as you walk around.
Ever year people as about Tripods. Again, remember you will be carrying the tripod the entire walk. Also, officially tripods are not allowed on the Ben Franklin Bridge. For example, I would strongly recommend you not use a tripod in view of a Ben Franklin Bridge Police Office. Also remember the Ben Franklin Walkway is open to the public, and lots of people are early morning joggers. We must remember we are sharing the Walkway.
Have any questions, please ask.

Jacqueline Vasinda I’m agoing to be taking PATCO in, and the train isn’t scheduled to get into 8th & Market until 5:23. I’ll try to hustle, but if there are any delays I’ll meet you all near the bridge.
Kate Fahey Looking forward to Saturday. Can you suggest a safe place to park?
