About This Walk
St. Albert’s PhotoWalk is Back!
Join photography enthusiasts from hobbyists to professionals for the 2022 WorldWide Photowalk in beautiful downtown St. Albert! The Largest outdoor Farmer’s Market in Western Canada will be taking place in front of City Hall, so you’ll have lots of great things to photograph in addition to beautiful architecture, the Sturgeon River, and of course, people.
PARKING:
There is lots of free parking around city hall. There is a big public lot in front of City Hall on St. Anne St. The farmer’s market opens at 10:00 am so parking early will give you the best chance to grab a spot.
MEET:
Walk around behind City Hall and we’ll meet on the plaza between City Hall and the river.
AFTER:
We will meet up at DJ’s Pizzaria immediately following our walk to visit with other enthusiasts, check out pictures, and network. My studio (Whitesell Portrait Art) is just a couple of blocks away and I’d be pleased to give a tour to everyone, and you could shoot a bit in the camera room if you’re interested.
Your Leader:
This will be the third Worldwide Photowalk led by Jim Whitesell, owner of Whitesell Portrait Art in St Albert. Jim has been a photographer most of his life and has been voted St Albert’s Best Photographer for the last 5 years by T8N Magazine. In addition to running a successful studio, he loves to teach photography.

Hi Photowalker!
Some of us have uploaded pictures to the Google Drive shared folder – if you haven’t yet, please send me your Gmail address so I can give you access to the private folder. You can send it to me at: jim@jimwhitesell.com
Once you have access, you can upload your pictures into your own folder. You can also view the pictures others have shared.
Entering the contest:
There is about a week left to submit YOUR entry in the contest! Please don’t forget to enter! Once you’ve logged in at worldwidephotowalk.com, click on “Your Walk” in the top bar and you’ll find the link to submit one image in the contest.

Entering your favourite photo in the photo contestAugust 14th, 2022
Hi Everyone!
I was a bit quick to ask for submissions for the photo contest in the last update. You can submit your favourite beginning tomorrow. August 15th at workldwidephotowalk.com.
What are the Photo Contest Rules?
In order for all walkers to have the same opportunities to capture images during the walk, the following rules must be followed:
You may only submit one photo
Collages aren’t allowed, as they are technically more than one photo. But, the following editing is allowed (but not required):
Contrast & saturation adjustments.
Color to B&W transitions.
Removal of distracting elements.
Creation of HDR & Panoramas.
Infrared
Use of Plug-ins such as ON1, Boris FX, etc.
Adding watermarks.
Photos must be taken during the walk (not before or after)
HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR ENTRY:
At worldwidephotowalk.com:
• Click “PHOTO WALK LOGIN” using the upper navigation bar.
• Click “YOUR WALK” on the upper navigation bar.
• Click on the “CONTEST” tab under the map on your walk page.
• Click on the “Choose File” button and upload your best photo (must be under 5mb)
OPEN FOR SUBMISSIONS: August 15, 2022
SUBMISSION DEADLINE: August 26, 2022 at 11:59pm ET

Thanks to everyone, we had a great walk this morning!
If you’re willing to share your pictures, I’ve created a Google Drive folder where each of you can upload pictures from the walk. You are free to upload as few or as many as you want, the choice is yours – and it’s entirely optional.
If you’d like to see the pictures uploaded by others and possibly share yours, please send me a private email with an email you have connected to a google account so I can authorize your access. By only authorizing each of us, the pictures won’t be accessible by anyone else. Please email me at jim@jimwhitesell.com.
The Photo Contest:
Pick out your favourite picture from the photo walk and email it to me at jim@jimwhitesell.com with the subject ” Photo Walk Entry”.
The winning entry of our photo walk will be announced and entered in the worldwide photo contest!

See you Saturday (tomorrow) morning!August 12th, 2022
I’m looking forward to meeting you and the other walkers in the morning, it looks like we’ll have great weather.
Our walk will include the Sturgeon river, quaint downtown St Albert, and the huge outdoor Farmer’s Market – so there will be no shortage of things to see and photograph. We’ll meet up afterwards at DJ’s Pizza located at the corner of St. Thomas and Perron St.
We’ll begin at 9:45 am behind City Hall, on the large plaza facing the river, and will meet up at DJ’s Pizza at about 11:45 am.
