About This Walk
I am so excited to lead a walk and meet new people while supporting this worthy cause! I hope you’ll join us! My name is Shelley and I moved to the area this summer with my family. I am a photographer with my own small business here locally. The Worldwide Photowalk is for anyone who likes photography! No camera requirements or skill level required! The goal is to explore the soundfront areas and town, make some new friends, take some beautiful pictures and just have fun! I am a Nikon girl, personally, but really, any camera will do…and yes, that includes a cell phone camera! The best camera is the one you have with you!
Here’s the plan: We will meet at the large sign at the entrance to the park. Parking in Surf City is NOT free! You must pay to park without a seasonal parking pass. You may want to arrive early to find and pay for your spot! From there we will walk along the boardwalks and the water. There are usually birds within the marsh and there’s lots of scenic views! You will see lots of boats passing by in the ICW as well. The sun will set at 6:46pm that evening, so if it’s not cloudy, we will have a beautiful sunset over the water to photograph! I will be there to help answer any questions you may have. You do not need to stay with me on the walk! You are free to explore the area and if you’re up for a little exercise, feel free to walk up onto the bridge that connects the island to the mainland! Surf City has a lot of eclectic streets to walk along as well, so feel free to explore and take those pictures! After sunset we will all meet up again at the large entrance sign. If you’d like to stick around and chat, there are lots of local eateries on the island. I will work on picking a location if anyone wants to go.
Make sure you wear good shoes for walking and traversing the different terrain and plan ahead to ensure your gear will be safe! We will be close to the water’s edge and don’t want to drop our gear! Additionally you’ll need to adhere to the park signs and not climb over fences, etc. You’ll need to stay aware of your surroundings, as there is wildlife in the park and along the waters. This is a Family Friendly event, so feel free to bring your kids and let them enjoy photography with you!
Remember there is no fee to participate, but this worldwide walk is a walk to support a cause! If you are able to make a donation of any kind to support the Springs of Hope Kenya Orphanage, please do so! Either way, if you plan to attend this photo walk, please register so I know to expect you! Hope to see you all there!
