About This Walk

Welcome to this year’s Photowalk in Sorsogon!

Our photowalk route for this year will be: Sorsogon East Central School > Capitol > Bitan-o (via Fernando’s Mall) > Bitan-o and Talisay Proper (crossing Coastal Road) > Pinaculan > Rompeolas.

 

About the Walk Leader:

Don Angelou Laureta is a multidisciplinary artist who explores the realms of drawing, painting, photography, and music. A passionate advocate for the arts, Don Angelou is an active member of the Kurit-Lagting Art Collective and the Concerned Artists of the Philippines. He has exhibited his works in various galleries and has actively engaged in community-based art initiatives through image-making and photography. His work reflects a deep engagement with social issues, blending visual and auditory elements to create compelling narratives that resonate with diverse audiences.

The Kurit-Lagting is a collective artistic collaboration of Bicolano artists from Sorsogon, Albay, Catanduanes, Masbate and Camarines provinces with art advocacies on human rights and the environment.

ONLINE SUBMISSION IS NOW OPEN!

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY :

1. Please use the username and password you created during the registration period to log in at https://worldwidephotowalk.com/walk/sorsogon-city-photowalk-2024/.
Click YOUR WALK tab to proceed to the submission link.
(It is ideal to log in using a desktop or laptop.)

2. Head over to the Contest Submission tab, where you will find a video on how to submit your images to the Worldwide Photo Walk contest by October 12, 2024, deadline.

3. Follow the video instructions on how create a SlickPic account.

4. You will then be asked to verify your email—please check your inbox for the verification email.

5. Once verified, you will be redirected to your SlickPic account. Just follow the instructions from there.

6. Collages are not allowed, as they are technically more than one photo.

7. The following editing techniques are ALLOWED but not required:

-Contrast and saturation adjustments
-Color to black-and-white transitions
-Removal of distracting elements
-Creation of HDR & panoramas
-Infrared photography
-Use of plug-ins (e.g., ON1, Boris FX, etc.)
-Adding watermarks

Reminder: Photos must be taken during the walk and not before or after. AI-generated images will be disqualified.

ABOUT THE THEME:
Bungkaras: Pitik para sa Kapalibotan, Karapatan nan Komunidad
“Bungkaras” is a Bicolano term that means “to be awakened”, “to reveal”, or “to expose” something that was hidden or not previously known.
Through photography, it is used in the context where something is uncovered or brought to light, such as concerns, struggles, or issues on human rights, environment, and communities.

Photo Contest Rules:
To ensure a level playing field for all participants, the following guidelines must be followed:

1. One Photo Submission: Each walker may submit only one photo. A local walk winner will be selected to advance to the global contest.

2. Collages aren’t allowed, as they are technically more than one photo. But, the following editing is allowed (but not required):
-Contrast & saturation adjustments.
-Color to B&W transitions.
-Removal of distracting elements.
-Creation of HDR & Panoramas.
-Infrared
-Use of Plug-ins such as ON1, Boris FX, etc.
-Adding watermarks.
-Photos must be taken during the walk (not before or after)

Am I required to Enter the Photo Contest?
Absolutely not! The contest is just a fun addition to the walk that allows us to pay it forward to our walkers for participating in this event that allows us to give so generously to the Springs of Hope Orphanage in Kenya.

Can Leaders Enter the Photo Contest?
Yes! Of course yes! Not only can you enter as a leader but we have created an entirely separate contest submission category just for the leaders—to compete against other leaders! This way your odds of winning and being noticed are even greater.

Thank you for joining our Photowalk this year!

We will start our registration at 1pm.

Venue is at Sorsogon East Central School in Burabod, Sorsogon City! See you on October 5, 2024!

Join us as we explore the vibrant heart of Sorsogon City, starting from Sorsogon East Central School, passing through the Capitol, and heading towards Bitan-o via Fernando’s Mall. We’ll cross the Coastal Road at Bitan-o Proper, continue to Pinaculan, and end our walk at the scenic Rompeolas, capturing the beauty and energy of each stop along the way.
