About This Walk
Please meet in front of LeBarge Tropical Cruises on the Bayfront (2 Marina Plaza, Sarasota, FL 34236). Lots of parking especially early on a Saturday morning! We will circle, explore and photograph Bayfront Park. There are public restrooms near O’Leary’s Tiki Bar. The basin is chock full of both power boats and sailboats, birds, and a beautiful view of the city. Next we will stop at the iconic Surrendered sculpture by Seward Johnson and our walk will take us through our small but mighty city which offers so much to her residents. There is so much to see along the way and our walk will end at the Sarasota Farmer’s Market. I am using the WHOLE FOODS Grocery Store as the address because it is so close to the Market. We will have a brief lecture on Street Photography and discuss legalities, ethics and good manners specific to shooting street photos. Prepare to shop for fresh fruit, veggies, flowers, etc. after our walk if you so desire. The Culture Capital of Florida is waiting to be photographed and we will examine buildings, murals, nature and people along the route as we hone our skills with respect to composition, light and Street Photography. Please wear comfortable shoes, carry water or Gatorade for hydration and check the weather in case you need an umbrella. We never let the weather cancel our photo plans because it changes so frequently. Be sure your batteries are charged, and your SD or flash cards are empty! Cell phones are welcome! All skill levels of photography are welcome – in fact, you don’t have to know anything other than how to press that camera button!
