About This Walk
The Pima Air & Space Museum
ONE OF THE LARGEST NON-GOVERNMENT FUNDED AVIATION & SPACE MUSEUMS IN THE WORLD!
Featuring about 400 historic aircraft, from a Wright Flyer to a 787 Dreamliner. Sitting on 80 acres the museum opened its doors to the public in May of 1976. Over the past forty years, the museum has grown immensely and today encompasses six indoor exhibit hangars (three dedicated to WWII). Please see the website for additional information https://pimaair.org/
An admission charge to the grounds is required and not provided by Kelby World Wide Photowalk.
There are many shapes and textures to explore within the indoor and outdoor areas. I feel that this will provide an especially “target rich” environment for those wishing to practice their monochromatic skills. Along the way you will learn much about aviation history.
It won’t be long now. Just over two weeks.
I am looking forward to seeing all of you again. This walk will be different. You all live here in Tucson so you will know this stuff already but I should repeat that you should use sun block, wear sunglasses and a hat. Don’t forget water, although it should be available on the grounds. Enough safety stuff, you are all adults.
I stopped at the museum the other day day to see if they had any problem with tripods. Tripods are OK. But, I found a sign that said, “NO LARGE BAGS OR BACKPACKS PERMITTED! SMALL PURSES, CAMERA BAGS, AND DIAPER BAGS ONLY!”
Does this mean that camera bags that are shaped like backpacks won’t be allowed in? I think that an argument each way could be made and that they should allow camera backpacks. But, think about what your are bringing along.
I have photos of the sign mentioned above, the entrance where we will meet and a PDF of the map of the grounds that I was going to attach to this discussion post but it looks like it will take only text. All that preparation is probably not necessary. I told you what the sign said, the entrance is not hard to find and maps are available inside.

Won’t be long now. Just next Saturday. Hope everyone is ready. Don’t forget water, sunscreen, hat in addition to your camera gear. Remember you don’t need the latest and greatest gear with the biggest lenses to participate. Just the motivation to enjoy walking, talking and photo shooting with like minded people. A camera phone or a film camera or an instamatic is fine. Let me know if you have any questions.
