I’ve always enjoyed combining my love for photography with exploring lesser-known corners of the city, and this route from Saint Patrick Basilica to Rideau Falls is one of my favorites. The changing light in the late afternoon, especially during the fall, offers fantastic opportunities for both beginners and seasoned photographers to capture unique shots of the city’s architecture, nature, and waterfront.

A few tips for the walk: Remember to pack lightly, bring an extra battery or memory card, and, most importantly, take your time with each shot. Photography isn’t just about getting to the destination—it’s about finding moments along the way. Try playing with different angles, framing, and natural lighting to see how they change the story of your images. I’m happy to answer questions or share tips during the walk, so feel free to ask!

  1. Afternoon all.

Currently we have three people registered for the photowalk, plus my wife (Deb) and myself. We can meet at 4pm at Saint Patrick Basilica 220 Kent St. We will either need to walk back to our parked vehicles or I may park our second vehicle at our end point and shuttle everyone back to their vehicle. Wondering if any would be interested in grabbing dinner or a drink after the walk.

Looking forward to seeing you all on Saturday!
