Where We Will Meet

Link Bicycle Rack near Trolley Stop

Where The Walk Will End

Meet back inside Trolley Stop, plenty of seating inside.

About This Walk

With unique architecture, older homes,  and shop windows for starters, there’s no lack of subjects for making photographs in the historical Oregon District. Plans are to meet up near Trolley Stop, the oldest continuously operating tavern in Dayton. From there, you can wander down Fifth Street to see the shops, and then down the side streets to see the unique and historical homes behind the shopping district. There’s even a place called Urban Krag, a former church converted to a climbing center, with walls as high as 56 feet.

Wear comfy low heeled shoes, East Fifth Street and East Sixth Street are cobblestoned with brick and the surface is uneven, sidewalks are concrete.

Meet back up at Trolley Stop to catch a quick bite to eat, and something to drink, while we talk about the day.

Upload your best!October 14th, 2019

Just a little bit of time left to upload your photo and see if you win this year’s grand prize!

Tomorrow’s the day!October 4th, 2019

I happened to be downtown today, and was in the Oregon District. The yarn bombers have been through, and there are some memorials to the victims of the shooting. Store windows are being decorated for Halloween. The weather is looking to be just right for our walk. I’ll be wearing a gray T shirt with Dayton Strong on it. It’ll be a good idea to get your camera and lenses together tonight, as well as double-checking your batteries (never hurts to have a spare!), check your cards, Make sure you have space on your cell phone too, and make sure your cell phone battery is charged up! Don’t forget about the video contest as well. I’m looking forward to seeing what everyone captures!

Ready for this weekend!October 1st, 2019

Hi everyone! Saturday is looking to be a nice day with just a small chance of rain (10%), a low of 57, and a high of 72. Don’t forget there’s also a short video entry available, as well as the regular photo entry. We’ll focus on the Oregon District, and give it our best shot! Hoping someone from Dayton wins the World Wide this year!
