About This Walk
Hey guys! Join me on this epic walk through Old Toronto for an unforgettable trek through time as we explore some of Toronto’s most historic neighbourhoods. For those who don’t know me, I’m an internationally award-winning, accredited professional travel photographer from Toronto, Southern Ontario Chair of the Professional Photographers of Canada, and a KelbyOne VIP who loves helping other photographers get the most out of their photography journey no matter where they are on their trajectory. Please note that this will be simply a fun gathering of people with their cameras to enjoy the landmarks of Old Toronto and not a photography workshop, nor an historical walk. I am, however, more than willing to help anyone who needs assistance as much as I can while guiding the group as a whole.
We’ll meet in the Distillery District at Balzac’s Coffee, explore the iconic distillery architecture then head across the Esplanade and David Crombie Park to St. Lawrence Market. From there, we’ll continue west to Berczy Park immediately followed by the historic Gooderham Building as the sun dips close to the horizon. While I can’t predict the weather, I can predict that the sun will set on this day at 6:50 PM, and as we all know, the best shots happen during golden hour and blue hour, so weather-permitting, all we have to do is show up for epic photos! After having our fill of the Flatiron Building (Gooderham), we’ll head west across Front Street back to the Distillery District in time for blue-hour photos of the enchanting Victorian-Era industrial landmarks, and finally meet up at the Mill Street Brewpub there at 21 Tank House Lane to have a drink, some food, get to know one another, share photos, and talk all things photography!
NOTE: The reservation at Mill Street Brewpub is under “POTTER” to be sure you’re seated with the rest of the group when you arrive.
Pro tip: Travel light! A mid-focal-length zoom (24-120mm) will do the job, but if you can, also bring a wide-angle lens (e.g. 14-24mm) and a small tripod.
I can’t wait to see you there and capture some beautiful moments together for a great cause!
Brief UpdateOctober 4th, 2024
Hey, Toronto photo walkers! Thank you all for signing up for Scott Kelby‘s 2024 Worldwide Photo Walk in support of Springs of Hope Orphanage in Kenya. I’m really excited for tomorrow night’s walk! We’ve got clear weather conditions starting from 18°C and dropping to a very comfortable 15°C by the time we get back to the Distillery.
Looks like we have a good turnout of photo walkers; so much so that we’ve had to follow up with the Mill Street Brewpub to let them know we’ve got a larger group than we expected. We may not all be able to sit at the same table, but we’ll be in the same area to mingle and even have access to our own bar area thanks generous spirit of the operations management at the restaurant. To show them our appreciation, I encourage you all to tip your servers well, and tag your photos from the event with @millstreetbrewpub as well as #WWPW2024
And don’t forget: there’s a contest with great prizes too! Get all the details here: https://worldwidephotowalk.com/prizes/
I’m looking forward to seeing you all in front of Balzac’s Coffee in the Distillery District at 5:15 PM tomorrow (Saturday October 5th) with cameras in hand! 📸🤩 ~ DEE
Hi there,
Could you please let us know where is the best place to park?
Also, what is your website?
Thanks,
Alex
Hi Alex. There’s plenty of parking at the Distillery District. The best places to park is either on Mill Street on the north end of the Distillery, or there’s a Green P lot on the south end of the Distillery.
And my website is https://deepotter.photography
I hope to see you there!
