Where The Walk Will End
Livingston County Courthouse Lawn, Downtown Howell
About This Walk
Explore the sights and sounds of historic Downtown Howell (Winner of the 2018 Great American Main Street). The City will be celebrating its 62nd Annual Melon Festival. We will have plenty of opportunities for great photographs of the architecture, people, parade, historic car show, arts and crafts, vendors, artists, etc. And don’t forget to try their special Howell Melon ice cream!
Your Photowalk hostess will be Laurie Popp, current President of the Livingston County Photography Group. Several other Group Members will join Laurie. The group’s goal is to have fun with photography. Members help each further advance our art and share information about using cameras, lenses, and techniques.
Laurie Popp Our photo walk coincides with the 62nd Annual Howell Melon Festival. Your photographic opportunities will be endless, from a parade, historic car show, arts & crafts, and street photography, to name a few. Howell, Michigan, is the county seat of Livingston County. Howell was first settled in 1833-34. We'll be meeting on the lawn of the Livingston County Courthouse, built in 1889. Within the downtown area, there is also the Ann Arbor Railway Station (1886) and the Howell Downtown Historic District encompassing 17 acres with mixed architectural styles, including the Opera House (1881), the Carnegie Library (1903-06), and Jewett Block Dry Goods (1872) which the First National Bank purchased in 1946. We look forward to having you join us!
