About This Walk

Light, Camera, Fashion: An Adobe Lightroom Walk Downtown NYC

Description: The Adobe photo team is pleased to have Travis Keyes return to lead the photo walk in NYC. Join us on Saturday, October 5th, 2024, from 1 PM to 3 PM for a stylish exploration of light and fashion in the heart of New York City. This unique photowalk, sponsored by Adobe Lightroom, will delve into the dynamic blend of architecture and street style that defines downtown NYC.

We will kick off our photowalk at the architectural marvel of the Guastavino Tiles Ceiling located at The David N. Dinkins Manhattan Municipal Building, steps from City Hall. This historic setting will provide a breathtaking backdrop for our photography, capturing the essence of NYC’s heritage and contemporary vibes. We will even have a Model join us again for our walk and playing with Hobolites… Our route will conclude near Rockefeller Park at 75 Battery Place, after which we can meander over to Brookfield Place. There, we’ll grab a bite and a beverage, offering a casual setting to chat and share some valuable Adobe Lightroom tips.

This event is a fantastic opportunity for photographers of all levels to harness the power of Lightroom to enhance their photos creatively. Besides being or photo guide, Travis will be demonstrating things such as, how to effectively use tools like Generative Remove, Lens Blur, and creative Presets to elevate your photographic work.

Guests can use any camera they like (or camera Phone). Since we will be diving into some editing techniques, we recommend installing Adobe Lightroom mobile onto your phone or tablet and logging in with your Adobe ID. If you are new to Lightroom, you are welcome to participate with a free 7-day trial—just be sure to download the app just before October 5th to ensure it’s ready for our walk.

Don’t forget to spread the word and register to participate.. Let’s capture the fashion and flair of NYC with every shot and enhance our skills with Adobe Lightroom!

Final Update.. See you Tomorrow!!!October 4th, 2024

Hey everyone!

We’re so excited to see you tomorrow for our photowalk! Here’s some important info to make sure everyone has an amazing experience:

Meeting Location: We’ll be gathering downtown, right near City Hall, just outside the stunning Guastavino Tiles Ceiling at The David N. Dinkins Building. There’s a charming little park with brown-colored walkways where we’ll gather to kick things off promptly at 1 PM. Please be on time so we can make the most of our walk together!

Respect Each Other: We’re here as a community of photographers. Let’s all respect each other’s space and shots. Keep a reasonable distance from other photographers while shooting, avoid blocking others’ views, and share prime shooting spots to ensure everyone gets a chance.

Model Etiquette: Treat all models with professionalism and respect. Before directing or posing a model, ensure you have their consent. Show appreciation and patience, especially if you’re waiting for your turn.

Have Fun and Network: Come ready to network, chat, shoot, and most importantly, have fun! This is a great chance to connect with fellow creatives. Our path will take us from our starting point across to Battery Park, and we’ll wrap up at Brookfield Mall, where we can grab a bite, discuss our shots, and continue mingling.

Lighting Note: We’ll have the beautiful Harlowe light available—so please do not bring any strobes, flashes, or additional lighting gear.

Gear Tips: Bring your camera, favorite lenses, memory cards, and batteries. A versatile lens like the 24-70mm or 24-105mm is a great choice. If you prefer, you can also bring lenses like a 24mm f/1.4, 50mm f/1.2, or even a 16-35mm f/2.8 for dynamic shots. An 85mm is perfect for creamy portraits!

Adobe Lightroom Tips: During our walk and afterwards, we’ll be sharing some Lightroom (LR) tips, so make sure you have Adobe LR on your phone! If you don’t have it yet, there’s a free 7-day trial available. This will be a great chance to dive into some live editing together.

These walks are all about having fun, experimenting with new techniques, asking questions, and enjoying a stress-free photography experience. We can’t wait to see you all there and capture some magic together!

Important Update: Photo Walk Shooting & Model Etiquette GuidelinesOctober 2nd, 2024

Subject: Important Update: Photo Walk Shooting & Model Etiquette Guidelines

Hello Photo Walk Participants,

As we gear up for our upcoming photo walk this Saturday, I’d like to share some key guidelines to ensure we all enjoy a respectful and productive shooting environment. These etiquette tips are crucial for both photography and interaction with our models.

Photo Walk Shooting Etiquette:

Respect Space: Keep a reasonable distance from other photographers while shooting. Be aware of your surroundings and avoid blocking others’ views.
Share Opportunities: Allow everyone a chance to shoot from prime spots. If you’ve had time at a great angle, step aside and let someone else have a go.
Ask for Help: Don’t hesitate to ask for advice or help if needed, but also respect those who may prefer to work independently.
Model Etiquette:

Professional Conduct: Treat all models with professionalism and respect. Inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated.
Ask for Consent: Before directing or posing a model, ensure you have their consent. Communication is key to a successful shoot.
Be Patient: Models are working hard to help you get the best shots. Show appreciation and patience, especially if you’re waiting for your turn.
Gear Handling:

Ensure your equipment is in good working order before arriving. Handle only your gear unless you have explicit permission to use someone else’s.
These guidelines are in place to ensure a friendly and safe environment for everyone involved. Let’s make this photo walk enjoyable and successful for all participants. Looking forward to seeing you all in action!

Best, Travis Keyes

We’re set to meet downtown, right near City Hall, just outside the stunning Guastavino Tiles Ceiling at The David N. Dinkins Building. There’s a charming little park with brown-colored walkways where we’ll gather to kick things off promptly at 1 PM.

Get ready for an afternoon filled with creativity and camaraderie! We’ve partnered with Harlowe to bring in some fantastic models and lights for you to work with. And with the weather forecast promising a beautiful day around the mid-70s, it’s shaping up to be perfect for photography—just remember to wear comfy shoes and appropriate clothing for the weather.

Our path will take us from our starting point across to Battery Park, and we’ll wrap up at Brookfield Mall. Here, we can grab a bite, discuss our shots, and continue mingling. It’s a wonderful opportunity to make connections and share in our passion for photography.

As for gear, we’ll provide the lighting setups, so no need to bring your own lights. Just come equipped with your camera, favorite lenses, memory cards, and batteries. Whether you prefer capturing stunning portraits or dynamic environmental shots with our models, a lens like the 24-70mm or 24-105mm could be your go-to. I often bring my 24mm f/1.4, 50mm f/1.2, and maybe even my 16-35mm f/2.8. An 85mm could also be a splendid choice if you’re aiming for those creamy portraits!

During our walk and when we sit down afterwards, I’ll be sharing some of my favorite Adobe Lightroom tips and tricks that I use to process my photos. Make sure to bring your smartphone and preload the Lightroom mobile app; if you don’t have it yet, there’s a free 7-day trial available. This will be a great chance to dive into some live editing together!

These walks are all about having fun, experimenting with new techniques, asking questions, and enjoying a stress-free photography experience. I’m looking forward to exploring with all of you! Should you have any questions before we meet, don’t hesitate to reach out.
