About This Walk

Our walk features the best of downtown Lakeland.  We begin at Hollis Garden with it’s flowers, sculpture and architecture. Then on to scenic Lake Mirror and the historic Francis Langford Promenade. Next, uptown to Kentucky Avenue’s quaint shops and then Trader’s alley for a bit of urban grunge.  That brings us to the Chop Shop for lunch, conversation and a look at what everyone found along the way. (“I could have shot that, but I didn’t think of it!”)

Suggestions: Park at the Magnolia Building parking lot next to Hollis Garden. If necessary, additional parking is at the Electric and Water building parking garage on the West side.  It will be warm and there will be walking so be sure to bring a hat and don’t bring more gear than you need.  We will try to get started before it gets too hot  We will try to remember to bring some water.  If you prefer to explore on your own, that’s fine, too.  You can meet us at the end.

We hope to have an experienced model with us to make things even more interesting.  Your leader is Ray Kriegbaum, a Certified Professional Photographer and photo instructor whose students range from 12 years to 70+ with experience ranging from total beginners to advanced amateurs.  Ray started in photography in the 1970’s and has shot for newspapers, magazines and the UPI wire service.  His work has included portraits, weddings, sports photography real estate and travel.
