About This Walk

The La Chua Trail is a popular and easy 1.3-mile out-and-back trail in Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park near Gainesville, Florida, known for its high density of alligators and other abundant wildlife and a wide variety of birds, viewed from an elevated boardwalk and a final grassy section. The trail leads to Alachua Sink and offers scenic views of the wet prairie. Visitors should be cautious, stay on the trail, and keep a safe distance from the wild animals. No pets, No children.

Parking is $6 per vehicles.

We will reconvene after the walk at the parking area and head out to grab some breakfast/brunch/lunch.

  1. Welcome to my Photowalk! I’m looking forward to meeting with you tomorrow morning at the LaChua trailhead parking lot. Please remember parking is $6 (on the honor system). I’ll be wearing my 2025 Annual Worldwide Photowalk T-shirt at 8am. Are you up for a meal afterwards? Do you have a preference?

  2. Hi guys! It’s time to post your images so a walk winner can be selected. Please don’t forget to do this!

  3. Just 3 days until the deadline to submit your pictures and I’d really love to see them!
