About This Walk

We’ll be exploring historic Virginia City NV with local docents and representatives of the old west. You will have an opportunity to take your time exploring a town that is, in its entirety, listed as a historical district with the U.S. National Park Service. The Virginia City Historic District, located halfway between Reno and Carson City, Nevada, includes the 19th century mining towns of Virginia City, Gold Hill, Silver City, and Dayton, as well as open lands containing cultural sites associated with mining activities. Between 1860 and 1880, these towns were the model for what would become the classic frontier mining boom town in the American West.

The town is on the side of a hill and is not an easy walk, you will want sturdy shoes and possibly a jacket for the evening hours. Bring a multi use lens, and tripod, we will take our time stopping through out town and offering opportunities to take photos of historical buildings and the volunteer docents.

I have been doing professional photography since 2015 and work heavily in Virginia City and the Comstock area, you can find many sample images online and through social media. All levels of photographers are welcome and encouraged to join.

  1. There isn’t a “join this walk” button that I can see under the map or anywhere on the walks map and description page. How do I sign up for this walk?

  2. There will be plenty of parking at the Court House on B Street, it’s public parking on the weekend. The walk down to C Street is a bit steep, sturdy walking shoes are recommended.
