Hi, I’m Malinda Hartong, Photojournalist.
I co-lead monthly photo walks for Great Parks of Hamilton County. I’ve been sharing my photography knowledge for over a decade through group workshops and private lessons – any camera from iPhone to SLR to Mirrorless – simple pro tricks and which button to push when to get crazy good photos quickly and easily – no matter what you’re using and how experienced you are.
Photo camps at Great Parks are a BLAST spending the week with photo-enthusiastic teens. I love helping beginners discover super easy ways to get their cameras to take the shots they’ve dreamed of – it’s always excited to see each one capture an amazing shot by only changing a button here or there – AWESOME!
I have a wide variety of professional experience, from working in news for years as well as having my own portrait studio, headshots of executives mayors and members of Congress, editorial, magazine… I’ve had photos in The Guardian, The Times of London, and so many more… plus covering events for Cincinnati Magazine and many local nonprofits. Photography is my vocation and my passion, and my spouse – Glenn Hartong – also published around the planet, and a director of photography, producer, and amazing video creator.
Message me on Facebook at Hartong Digital Media with any questions. Follow @HartongDigital on Instagram as well as @TheHartongs for the studio.
We can’t wait to see you soon!

Recommended gear:
- any camera. Lens selection: wide angle for scenery (18-55), telephoto for details (55-200 or 300 range) – loads of both!
- Polarizer filter – since the walk is in August we have a chance for sunny skies.
- sunscreen 🙂 and really good walking shoes – you’ll want to explore. And a tote for goodies found along the way – have you tried the turtles at the chocolate shop??
- stick around for treats or noshing at the Golden Lamb or the ice cream parlor.
Meet in front of the train depot at Lebanon Mason Monroe Railroad at 1pm
