About This Walk
Hello Everyone
My plan is for us to reconnect with each other and the downtown and its changes and different vibe. I will be off the clock as far as “tour guide” goes – this is purely for social fun.
Don’t let the direct route map fool you! We’re going to Bob and weave to capture a mix of everything. I do NOT intend to include Millennium Park on the route but you’re welcome to go on own if it’s been a while for you.
I am not responsible for any loss, damage or harm to anyone or any equipment/belongings during our time together. To minimize risk, we’re going to practice urban safety and I ask you to respect the following:
- Please use a strap and one that isn’t advertising the camera you have
- Please use a bag not marked with a camera brand
- Please only bring ID, one credit card, minimal cash (we’ll do one check for the meal). Leave excess wallet stuff at home!
- No tripod. Let’s stay light and discreet for this
- Please be aware and considerate – don’t block the sidewalk, keep lenses and valuables tucked in inner pockets
- Please don’t engage with panhandlers at this time. My goal is to not provoke anyone while we’re out
- If driving, place anything visible out of sight (preferably trunk) including phone and GPS cords. Save your windows – don’t allow someone to insinuate there’s something valuable inside
- And last but not least, if you’re unvaccinated, I do ask you to wear a mask if/when we’re close. My request is out of respect for the health of others and myself (as a solo business operator) and not a political one
BRUNCH
One of my favorite old-school spots to eat in the area is Pittsfield Cafe. It’s indoor making weather a non-factor. It’s less pricey than many Loop spots today their menu is so large, they have something for nearly everyone. My intention is to do one check where we’ll all pitch in our cash for our own meal (don’t forget tip!)
If you don’t know me and have never been on one of my photowalks (or a Kelby WWPW), you may be wondering why the logistic details more than a fluffy photowalk description. My WWPW tends to have a theme or storytelling purpose to help us get into the zone. I am owner and chief tour guide of a Chicago-based photography tour business. My former career was as a meeting & convention planner thus the logistics. I’m out in the city exploring and capturing quite often and am aware it’s changed since pre-pandemic. There are completely new photographic opportunities in our old haunts and I’m hoping you’ll join me to find the gems!
I’m really looking forward to seeing some familiar faces and meet new ones (even inanimate ones!! If you don’t know, ask)
