If you have not already done so, today is the last day to submit your entry for the Photo Walk contest. Entries close at 10:59pm CDT, and I will be making my selection over the the weekend. So far, there are 8 outstanding entries, and I hope everyone will take the opportunity to submit a photo.

Only 1 Week Left To Submit Contest Entries!August 19th, 2022

There is only 1 week left to submit your entries for the photo walk contest. So far, only 4 entries have been uploaded, and that is going to make my job way too easy to pick the winner from the Frisco Square Photo Walk. Please make my choice of the winner more difficult, and submit your entry by August 26 at 10:59 CT.

The Photo Walk Contest is Open!August 15th, 2022

The Photo Walk contest is open for submissions, and I encourage everyone to submit an image and to please make my life difficult by having to choose from lots of images. The deadline is to submit your image is August 26, 2022 at 11:59pm ET. The following are the directions to submit your images:

• Click “PHOTO WALK LOGIN” using the upper navigation bar.
• Click “YOUR WALK” on the upper navigation bar.
• Click on the “CONTEST” tab under the map on your walk page.
• Click on the “Choose File” button and upload your best photo (must be under 5mb)

If you encounter any problems uploading your contest image, please email the Kelby Photo Walk directly at photowalk@kelbyone.com as I am afraid I am unable to assist with that.

Thank you!August 13th, 2022

Thanks for attending today’s walk in Frisco Square. It was hot, the light was not so great, but I truly enjoyed meeting and spending time with those of you that made it out.

As a reminder, the contest will open on Monday and I will send out a reminder to post your best photo from today. Remember, it’s free to enter, and you could win some great prizes from the Kelby organization. There are only just over 400 walks going on (as opposed to over 1,500 in past years) so you have much better odds of winning a prize, and there is absolutely no reason not to enter.

I create a private, hidden Facebook group https://www.facebook.com/groups/1076987969591522 which you can only request access to if you have the link. And an Instagram account which you can tag with @kwwpwfs. Feel free to post and tag as many photos as you would like on either platform.

Also, if you would like to connect with me on Facebook or Instagram, I am joepaulstudios on Facebook and @jepaulstudios on Instagram.

Be on the lookout for more information about the contest.

RESENDING: WE ARE A DAY AWAY FROM THE PHOTO WALK!August 12th, 2022

Apologies for resending the below update, but we had some more people join the walk after the original update was sent out, and since I cannot send directly to individual emails, I wanted to ensure that everyone had the information.

Additionally, information about the photo contest and prizes has been posted, and you can read about that by clicking the CONTEST/PRIZES link in the upper right part of the walk page, or by going directly to https://worldwidephotowalk.com/prizes/. More details on the contest will follow, and the contest will officially open for entries on Monday, August 15.

I hope everyone is excited about the Photo Walk in Frisco Square tomorrow; I know I am! I will be in front of the main entrance of the Purefoy Municipal Building, 6101 Frisco Square Blvd., at roughly 9:00am, and will be wearing a white Photo Walk t-shirt with red sleeves, and a blue Sony Alpha baseball cap. We will start walking at 9:45am, but I will do some intros and we will take a group photo starting at 9:30am. My cell phone is 214-308-1751, and y’all can feel free to call me if y’all are lost or are running late.

For those that may have missed it, below is the earlier update that was posted. See y’all tomorrow!

Greetings Walkers!

Thank you for being a part of the Frisco Square Kelby Worldwide Photo Walk. We are less than one week away from our photo walk and I hope that you are getting as excited about it as I am. It’s been three years since I last led one of the Kelby walks, and I am definitely looking forward to this one.

The forecast for Saturday shows clear skies and very warm temperatures. Since we will be walking around outside, be sure to bring water and sunscreen with you, and a hat is probably also advisable. And of course, wear comfortable walking shoes.

I tend to be more traditional when it comes to these type of photo walks and try to capture what’s existing in the area that we will be walking around. I will typically shoot architecture and architectural details, as well as what would be considered “street photography”, or anything that happens to catch my eye. Some photo walks that I have seen or been on bring a model or two along, but that is not something I will be arranging for on this photo walk. If someone chooses to bring a model, I certainly won’t object, but I am also not asking or encouraging anyone to do that. I believe the purpose of this photo walk is to help you to expand your creativity and photograph things that you would not otherwise shoot.

Feel free to bring with whatever type of camera that you would like, regardless of whether it’s a cell phone, a point-and-shoot, a mirrorless, a DSLR, or even a film camera. If you need help with your camera, I will be happy to assist you, although I am not necessarily familiar with the menu systems on every possible camera.

The purpose of the photo walk is to walk around, shoot, and have fun. There is also a photo contest where every registered walker will get the opportunity to submit their best image, which must be taken on the day of our walk and in the area which we will be walking. I will choose the best image from the Frisco Square walk, and that photo will then be entered to compete with the winning photos from all of the other photo walks around the world. There is a separate contest for walk leaders, so you will only be competing against other walk participants.

As noted in the walk listing, we will be meeting at 9:30am in front of the George A. Purefoy Municipal Building, located just off of Frisco Square. The is plenty of free parking at the municipal building, as well as various locations around Frisco Square. Later in the week, I will be sharing my phone number if you can’t find the group or are running late. I will give an introduction to the area for those that may not be as familiar with it, including some the highlights that you may want to cover. We will take a group photo in front of the municipal building before we head off around 9:45am. You can choose to walk around on your own or stay in a small group or walk with a bigger group; the choice is entirely yours. I will be taking a very leisurely walk and I enjoy shooting with a group; the social aspect of the photo walk is just as important to me as the photography. At roughly noon, we will regroup and head to one of the restaurants around the square. I will share the list of restaurants so we can decide where to go, and a map of the area, on Saturday morning.

If you have any questions, or need to reach me for any reason before Saturday, feel free to email me at kwwpw@jbpaul.com.

Looking forward to seeing you on Saturday!

Photographically yours,
Joe Paul

Scott Browne Really looking forward to this! I'll have my wife with me, and we're arriving in Dallas a couple of days beforehand from Australia. Could you please let me know if this walk will have any stairs, as my wife will be using an electric wheelchair.

Joe Paul Hi Scott, or should I say G'day Mate. :) Very happy to have you on my walk. The walk will be on flat ground, and the only place that there might be some stairs would be at the municipal building where the walk will be starting. But even that would not be a problem as all new public buildings constructed after 1990 (which this one was) are required to be wheelchair accessible. We will be walking on sidewalks for the most part, and all sidewalks also have wheelchair access for ingress and egress.

Scott Browne Thanks Joe! This is our first visit to Dallas, so can't wait!

Joe Paul @Scott, feel free to email me at joe@joepaulstudios.com and I will be happy to share additional information about the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex or answer any additional questions you may have.

Scott Browne Cheers - email sent :D
