ADVICE

  1. With so many people joining this photo walk, it will be normal for the group to break up into smaller groups so please use the map and description above to ensure you can follow the correct route. Join the WhatsApp group as stated above to check my Live Location and to keep in touch.
  2. Please practice common courtesy when photographing people. Especially in the busy market, don’t crowd and linger too long to photograph them as it could affect their business.
  3. The walk is 4.9 km long so wear comfortable walking shoes. And carry minimal photographic equipment. Tripod is not required.
  4. There will hardly be any shady areas for long stretches of the photo walk so do whatever necessary to protect yourself from the heat e.g. apply sunscreen lotion, use an umbrella, wear a hat and sunglasses. And keep yourself hydrated – drinks lots of water. Please refresh yourself at the two 15-minute breaks, stopping at Wanjo and Sambal (refer to the route map).
  5. In case of rain, bring an umbrella or raincoat.
  6. Maintain situational awareness at all times to ensure you and your equipment are safe. Stay with at least another person to keep a watch out for each other.

Photo Contest Deadline Extended!October 17th, 2024

Dear Walkers,

In case you missed it (I did – email was on Tuesday, 15 October), the photo contest deadline has been extended until 11.59 am Friday, 18 October, which is 11.59 am Saturday, 19 October for Malaysia time. So you have a bit more time if you wish to submit your 5 photos (yes, 5 not 1 as in previous years).

All the best!

Regards,
Raja Indra Putra

Deadline for the Photo ContestOctober 12th, 2024

Dear Walkers,

The deadline for the photo contest is 11.59 pm Saturday but it’s US Eastern Standard time so it would be 11.59 am tomorrow (Sunday). But please don’t submit too close to the deadline as the system may become very slow or glitchy.

BTW, I mentioned previously about submitting your one best photo for the contest, but it turns out this year you are allowed to submit up to 5 photos. I hope those who wanted to submit for the contest did manage to submit 5 images.

And everyone can now see the photos submitted: https://photowalk.slickpic.com/albums/Exploring-The-Traditional-Malay-Village-Of-Kampung-Baru-Kuala-Lumpur/ and you can also see the photos submitted from the other photo walks here: https://photowalk.slickpic.com/gallery

In case you missed it, the FAQ has the photo contest rules: https://worldwidephotowalk.com/#FAQ

All the best!

FINAL INFORMATIONOctober 4th, 2024

Dear Walkers,

Tomorrow morning is our photo walk. Once again a reminder to please join our temporary WhatsApp group at https://bit.ly/WWPW2024WA so that we can be in touch with each other during the walk and you can see my Live Location.

I’ve added a bit more information to the Description section. For those who registered earlier, the following are the latest additions:

BREAKING NEWS: ROAD CLOSURES

Due to the Standard Chartered KL Marathon on Saturday, 5 October (10km and 5km runs) and Sunday, 6 October (full and half marathons), there will be road closures on the day of our Scott Kelby’s Worldwide Photo Walk but these would not affect getting to Kudu’z Bistro by car if you drive into Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman from the north. Road Closures, Getting to the Kudu’z Bistro, Facebook Group and WhatsApp GroupOctober 1st, 2024

Dear Walkers,

Please take note of the latest information below.

ROAD CLOSURES

Due to the Standard Chartered KL Marathon on Saturday, 5 October (10km and 5km runs) and Sunday, 6 October (full and half marathons), there will be road closures on the day of our Scott Kelby’s Worldwide Photo Walk until 10 am, as shown in the KL Marathon’s Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=845242534402692&set=pb.100067508591992.-2207520000

After checking the running route, I believe the road closures shouldn’t prevent us from getting to Kudu’z Bistro by car because we can get there via Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman from the north. Please use Waze (perhaps also Google Maps), which should redirect you to avoid the road closures.

As for trying to photograph the runners, we won’t be able to do so because the running route (Jalan Sultan Ismail and further south) does not coincide with our photo walk route. Besides, they are expected to finish before 8 am.

GETTING TO KUDU’Z BISTRO

By Train: Get off at Medan Tuanku monorail station and take a 5-minute walk to Kudu’z Bistro.

By Car: As mentioned, please use Waze. Driving along Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman from the north, make a turn between Kudu’z Bistro and Restoran Kudu bin Abdul, and there are free roadside parking around this area if you are early. If not, proceed to the open air car park (RM3 per day on Saturday) on Jalan Lorong Tuanku Abdul Rahman Kanan 1, a 2-minute walk behind Kudu’z Bistro.

FACEBOOK GROUP

I have created a Facebook Group so that after our photo walk, we can share our photos taken during the photo walk. Please join at https://www.facebook.com/groups/wwpw2024KL

REMINDER: WHATSAPP GROUP

As I posted before in the Description and in the last Update (previous email), I’ve created a temporary WhatsApp group where we can contact each other during the photo walk and I will also post my Live Location so you can track where I am. Please use this invite link to join: https://bit.ly/WWPW2024WA. You can use this group to post any questions you have before the walk.

Note: Since there are still people registering to join our photo walk and they may not see the Updates on the official photo walk page, I will be re-posting this information closer to the day of the walk so that the last people who register don’t miss any important information.

Raja Indra Putra (Ripi)
