About This Walk
This year we’ll start on Calton Hill with fabulous views over the city of Edinburgh. We’ll then head down onto Princes Street through the East and West Gardens before making our way to finish in the Grassmarket. On the way, there are plenty of opportunities for great images. The Scott Monument, trains arriving into Waverley, the Ross Fountain in front of the castle and much more….
The walk will be lead by Rich Dyson. I ran last years Photowalk in Edinburgh and I also run Edinburgh Photography Workshop. If you are new to photography, feel free to stick with me and I can give you tips and guidance on getting some lovely photographs.Join Walk
Would you like to contribute to a blog post?October 8th, 2019
I’m publishing a blog tonight about the walk on Saturday. It would be great to include a few photos of attendees as well as a little comment about what you liked about the walk. If you’d like to be included, could you send photos in JPEG format and a one or two line quote to firstname.lastname@example.org
Thanks for coming!October 6th, 2019
Just wanted to say thanks to everyone that came along to the walk yesterday. I hope you enjoyed the route and you got some nice pictures along the way. Keep an eye out on the PhotoWalk site in the next few hours for the chance to submit your best photo of the day to the competition. At least one entry from the Edinburgh Walk will win a Scott Kelby e-book The Photoshop CC Book For Digital Photographers and I’ll also add a £25 voucher for an Edinburgh Photography Workshop session. You’ll have until 14th October to submit your entry. Don’t forget there is also a Mobile Phone category too.
When we were in the pub at the end, there were quite a few people who thought it would be good to have more photography walks throughout the year. I currently run a Closed Facebook Group where we run Monthly challenges so it seems like a good idea to use that group to publicise the walks between now and the new Worldwide Photo Walk – you can join at https://www.facebook.com/groups/353632455432958/
Finally, I send out a monthly newsletter with links to blogs that I have written as well as other things of interest. If you’d like to sign up go to http://bit.ly/EPW_SignUp
P.S. Don’t forget that you can also donate to the charity that is supported by the Photo Walk on the page where you’ll submit your entries
Get ready for Saturday!October 3rd, 2019
I hope everyone is looking forward to Saturday’s Photo-Walk. The weather forecast is looking dry but overcast so we should have a good couple of hours of photography.
The plan is to meet around the Spanish Canon on Calton Hill where I’ll hand out some route maps for the walk and we can get a group photo. The walk is around 3.5 miles and takes us through parts of the New Town, through Prince Street Gardens and ending in the Grassmarket.
I have booked a space in Cold Town House on the Grassmarket for us all to have a drink at the end of the walk. There’ll be room for people to sit and have something to eat if you want or there’ll also be a standing area for those just wanting to blether over a drink.
There are still some spaces available for Saturday’s walk, so if you have any friends interested in joining then please ask them to sign-up. There is a mobile photography award so anyone who likes taking snaps on the phone or tablet cameras is very welcome to join in.
See you on Saturday!
P.S. – In the event of an emergency on the day drop me a mail to contact [at] edinburghphotographyworkshop [dot] com or text 07977 035847
