About This Walk
Little Havana’s Calle Ocho is a showcase of South Florida’s diverse cultures with unusual scenes and characters from the Caribbean and Latin America, with spot samples of live music, dancing, domino and chess games, arts and crafts creations, art galleries, cigar rolling stores, and much more.
Calle Ocho is an excellent location for Street Photography where you’ll be able to document its flavor and out-of-the-ordinary ways with strong wall murals as background, interesting characters, artists / shops, musicians, and the traditional domino / chess players.
Come ready to have fun and a good time creating incredible images and sharing the experience with like-minded photographers… since this is a FREE event, please consider making a donation to The Springs of Hope Orphanage.

UPDATE FOR TOMORROW’S CALLE OCHO PHOTOWALKOctober 4th, 2024
Tomorrow’s weather forecast at 10:00 am for Calle Ocho Little Havana’s Scott Kelby Worldwide Photowalk is expected to be GOOD -NO rain after 9:00 am, with temperatures in the mid-80s (85 degrees), mostly cloudy and humidity at 73%… factors desired for a fun photography day! GO AHEAD AND SET YOU MIND FOR A GOOD TIME!
As mentioned, we’ll meet at 10:00 am at the entrance to Little Havana’s Maximo Gomez Domino Park (1444 SW 8 Street, 33035) – Street parking is good and inexpensive along SW 8 Street and side streets. Don’t worry if you see lots of tourist buses, take your time, we’ll wait 10 minutes to start our photowalk.
What equipment to bring? It depends on your interests. You can never go wrong with semi wide-angle to mid-telephoto focal length zooms for this type of urban conditions but consider traveling light for comfort and spontaneity.
There are plenty of cafeterias along our route but in South Florida, a bottle of water can always help with hydration. Equipment checks and their readiness is important for a good photo shoot outcome, do it now if not done it already!
SEE YOU THERE!
