About This Walk

This is the central Birmingham walk

I’ve got a route in mind that will showcase a range of photo-interesting locations and sights within the city centre. Something for everyone to photograph is assured.

Getting here

Best access to the city centre is via public transport with Moor Street, New Street and Snows Hill stations all within easy walking distance of the start and end points.

I’ll post more details and updates on the walk in the coming weeks, but please do get signing up for the best photo walk in Birmingham.

My photo walk history

I’ve led completely full walks in Oxford in 2016 and 2017. I couldn’t lead one last year, but now I’m back and with a new location to walk. I’m really looking forward to meeting a great new group of people this year, and expect that one or two familiar faces will also be joining me this year too.

How to enter the Worldwide Photo Walk competitionOctober 9th, 2019

Hi,

You should have received an email about the competition, if not then please follow the steps that KelbyOne outlined when I asked them earlier. You just need to open this in your web browser, it’a link to their reply to me on twitter. https://twitter.com/KelbyOne/status/1181923206879469571?s=20

Hope that helps everyone, and best of luck – I can’t wait to see your entries.

Brian

Thank youOctober 6th, 2019

A huge thanks for making this years walk in Birmingham such a good day. It was my pleasure to meet you all and walk around Birmingham this year.

I can certainly say I’ll be back to Digbeth with a model or two in the coming months as I’m sure that me, a Speedlite and a model will be able to make some fabulous photos there.

Don’t forget to follow the reminders for entry of your photos in the competition. Remember that someone has to win the “best shot of the walk” and it could be you if you enter.

I’ve posted a quick update on my blog with a few photos already if you want to take a look. https://www.p4pictures.com/2019/10/worldwide-photo-walk-2019-birmingham/

Many thanks, and best of luck with your photos and entries in the competition.

Birmingham Photo Walk Route GuideOctober 4th, 2019

Hi,
Just one more sleep until it’s Worldwide Photo Walk day. I’ve posted a few tips and some information on my website, and there’s a two page PDF which outlines the route for the walk.

Check the page here: https://www.p4pictures.com/wwpw2019/

Get the PDF here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/2x0roi9z7urerny/WWPW-Birmingham.pdf?dl=0

We have spaces still available, so please bring friends if you can.

See you tomorrow, in Birmingham.

Finalising the walk route today, any suggestions for a place to socialise after the walkSeptember 28th, 2019

I’m heading to Birmingham today to finalise the walk route, and am open to suggestions of places to end the walk. Ideally somewhere with food, coffee / beer and can accommodate us all.

Have a great Saturday, see you next week.

Matt Ebdon Thanks to Glyn Dewis and He shoots he draws podcast , this is why I know and have signed up for this photo walk. Look forward to seeing everyone on the day Matt

Brian Worley Thanks Matt. By coincidence it's thanks to this walk that I met Glyn originally. I joined the photowalk that Glyn led in Windsor 11 or so years ago. Since then we've shared a few curries, coffees, bacon sandwiches and many laughs.

Glynis Harrison Hi - I met Glyn Dewis in Warwick a few years ago so we have a lot in common. I love taking photos in Birmingham and am happy to support this photowalk.

Glynis Harrison There is a Wetherspoons quite near, The Square Peg - https://www.jdwetherspoon.com/pubs/all-pubs/england/west-midlands/the-square-peg-birmingham

Glynis Harrison There are lots of good bars and eateries on Temple Street and of course, there's always the canalside eateries but it's quite a walk from New Street, through Victoria Square past the new library and water feature, and through Symphony Hall to the canal, there's the Pitcher and Piano right in front of you and lots more. The library and new water feature is superb for photography!

Matt Ebdon I'm up for wherever after to go have a quick pint. Look forward to seeing you all.

Brian Worley Thank for the suggestions, the walk route and guide is now ready for you. Plus I found a potential post walk meeting place too :-)
