About This Walk
Welcome! Thanks for checking out the 2023 Worldwide Photowalk in Birmingham, AL. The walk is for anyone who enjoys photography and exploring. And this is a free event. Our goals are to have fun exploring the area, to take some interesting images, and maybe meet some new friends. You only need to bring your imagination, your creativity, and a device to record your images. There are no requirements when it comes to skill level or equipment. Use what you have (camera, mobile phone, GoPro, …) and let your creativity guide you.
The plan: We will meet in front of the Prevail Union Coffee Shop, which is located on the 5th Avenue North side of the building. The building now has a large Shipt sign on top (it replaced the Wells Fargo sign). There should be plenty of street parking along 5th Avenue North. There is also a public parking deck at 401 20th Street North, Birmingham, AL 35203.
The route: We will proceed to the Regions Plaza across the street and begin our walk south on 20th Street, west on 2nd Avenue North, and then north on 19th Street and back to our starting point. There will be plenty of opportunities to branch off from the route to take advantage of any photographic opportunities (architecture, murals, etc.).
Even though there should be places to rest along the way, make sure you wear comfortable shoes for walking and traversing the sometimes uneven terrain. Glad to answer any questions in the Discussion section. Looking forward to seeing you on October 7!
