About This Walk
Come join us as I lead my 11th Worldwide Photowalk through historic Benicia, one of the oldest cities in California.
We’ll meet outside Lucca Bar & Grill, 439 1st St (at East E Street, Benicia, and offer walk suggestions for touring downtown, including the former state capitol building. Yes, Benicia was California’s state capitol from 1853–1854, and as recently as 2000 (OK, but only for a day…) We can continue through the historic conservation district and get great late afternoon shots of the Benicia Marina along the Sacramento River.
Afterwards, join us for an option dinner at Lucca’s Bar & Grill where we’ll be serenated with live Rock ‘n’ Roll music provided by the Jeffs, Campitelli & Tamelier
BEFORE you sign up for the walk, please click here to RSVP to me directly so I’ll know how many people to expect and to inform the restaurant how many will be meeting after the walk.
UPDATE
Hey Photowalkers,
It’s time to charge your batteries, format your memory cards, and pack some cold water. Tomorrow is our photowalk in Benicia! (Want to learn more about Benicia? Check out some of the links here: https://tinyurl.com/ymgqddmb )
Our walk will be one of almost 350 walks representing close to 6,000 people worldwide.
Here are a couple of good short videos to help you prepare:
Please know that tomorrow is going to be HOT, HOT, HOT, so bringing a water bottle may be your most important gear. And of course a brimmed hat.
We’ll meet at 4:30 at Lucca Bar and Grill, 439 1st St, Benicia. Optionally, we’ll meet for dinner at 6:45afterwards. If you haven’t RSVPed to me regarding dinner via the Google form at https://forms.gle/qj9dvWPY6AGU7UNV9 please do so that the restaurant can accommodate us.
Here are some other good tips:
Don’t Forget to Wear Really Comfortable Shoes
You’ll be doing a lot of walking, so make sure you wear shoes that make your feet happy. Don’t forget sunscreen.
Charge your camera batteries tonight
Don’t forget to charge your camera batteries, clean your lenses, and ensure you have an empty memory card and a backup.
Bring LOTS of water (and drink lots of water!)
This is key! You don’t want to dehydrate on your walk – you want to have 100% fun the whole time, so make sure you drink plenty of water before the walk and during the walk – it makes a big difference in your enjoyment of the walk and your safety and well-being.
The Most Important Thing Is… That You Stay Safe
Look out for each other on the walk. Don’t go into scary-looking areas, traipsing down deserted alleys, or anyplace that looks unsavory. Don’t get distracted by shooting – you don’t want to bump into or trip over anything: KEEP AN EYE ON THE ACTION!
And remember, The Worldwide Photo Walk proudly supports The Springs Of Hope Kenya Orphanage, an organization that feeds, houses, educates, and empowers young orphans so that they can grow up to not just survive but succeed. We’re asking each person who participates to donate to help make a difference in these children’s lives. Every dollar counts. Please consider donating at https://worldwidephotowalk.com/donate/
Looking forward to a fun walk tomorrow! Email me with any questions, and remember to put your memory cards back in your camera before you leave the house!
Thanks,
Reid
Your Benicia Photowalk 2023 PhotosOctober 10th, 2023
Dear Photowalkers,
I haven’t seen others’ photos and would love to! I’ve created an online gallery to see each other’s photos.
If you need a link to upload, email me at reid@lumiograph.com. You’ll need to sign in with an Adobe, Apple, Facebook or Google account to add up to 6 of your best images. If you don’t want to sign in, email me your photos with the long edge at least 2,000 pixels. If you know how, make sure your name is included in the metadata copyright field so we’ll know who you are when we click on a photo and click the info button in the bottom right-hand corner when a photo is selected and enlarged.
Just a head ups that Lightroom Classic was updated to version 13 today. It has a new lens blur tool and a more precise color selector tool in the HSL panel, now called Color Mixer. Not a lot new.
I love to teach photography, so give me a call if I can help you with yours. I’m a full service shop, everything from scanning and wide format printing and image management, to selling your old photography equipment for you. Just get in touch!
Hope to see you at next year’s walk, or hopefully before. I’m open to ideas of where to lead the next walk—let me know!
Happy shooting,
