About This Walk
We are planning a Photowalk this year to focus on some of the most iconic architectural elements at Garvan Woodland Gardens, the botanical garden of the University of Arkansas – Fay Jones School of Architecture + Design. Nestled in the picturesque Ouachita Mountains of Southwest Arkansas, the Gardens are a wonderful gift to all people from local industrialist and philanthropist Verna Cook Garvan.
Our Photo walk will take us to 4 of the most photogenic structures in the Garden: The Verna Garvan Pavilion, the Sunrise Bridge and the Joy Manning Scott Full Moon Bridge (both located in GWG’s award winning Asian Garden) and end at the iconic Anthony Chapel. When we get to Anthony Chapel we will turn on the lights and have an opportunity to get images of the interior and exterior while the Garden and Chapel are closed to other guests. The Garden closes to regular guests at 6:00 p.m.
Julia Mann, Garvan Woodland Garden’s Lead Property Manager and Official Photographer, will lead the walk and can offer photography and history tips and information as we go. If you are not a member of the Garden there is an admission fee of $20 for adults and $5 for children 4-12. If you have a Garvan Garden’s membership, admission is free. No dogs at the Photowalk, please. We will be in the Garden and at Anthony Chapel after the Garden and Cafe closes. Please remember to bring water or other hydration. No glass containers, alcohol, smoking or vaping anywhere on the property.
