About This Walk

Did you know Westworth Village is home to Tarrant County’s largest natural waterfall?

Join Mayor Kelly Jones as we stroll leisurely from Westworth Village City Hall up the trail to Airfield Falls. At the falls, we’ll scope out shoot locations, set up tripods for the more serious photographers, and simply walk around photographing this largely unknown natural treasure. After the shoot, we’ll stroll back down the trail to city hall for a light lunch, and a discussion of the photographic experience and explanation of the photo contest.

Thank you for coming!October 5th, 2019

Thank all of you for attending the Westworth Village version of Scott Kelby’s Worldwide Photowalk! I had a great time, and I hope you enjoyed Airfield Falls and our town’s hospitality.

I didn’t order the heat and humidity. I’ll try to do better next year!

Now that you’ve seen the falls and the trailhead, I hope you’ll return in a few weeks when the leaves turn. THAT’S when you’ll get some killer shots!

Thanks to Rule the Roost for our outstanding lunch.

Please send me your photographs for the photo contest, and I truly would appreciate your constructive criticism on how I can do a better job as a walk leader next year.

Regards to all of you, Kelly

P.S. I’m going to try to attach our group photo, but I don’t know if its going to work. I’ve been unable to change the walk’s photograph.

Rule the RoostOctober 2nd, 2019

Darned Spellcheck!

It is actually Rule the Roost that will be providing our lunch on Saturday morning. This restaurant is a very welcomed new business in our city, and I am embarrassed to have previously mis-stated its name.

It’s This Saturday! Are You Ready?October 2nd, 2019

I am pleased you signed up for the Westworth Falls edition of Scott Kelby’s Worldwide Photo Walk. There are now official walks in over 1100 cities around the world, so even here, in little Westworth Village, you will be participating in a wonderful international event. It’s mostly designed to just get people out with their cameras in a friendly and relaxed manner, but also to help that fine orphanage in Kenya.

Susan and I walked the trail this past Sunday, and it’s 1.3 miles (and 25 minutes at a leisurely pace) from city hall to the waterfall, where we’ll also spend time at the formal entrance to the waterfall, Airfield Conservation Park, where some jet parts are installed in an artistic and interesting manner.

We’ll meet in the community room at Westworth Village City Hall this Saturday morning at 9:45 a.m., when I will show some photographs I shot this past weekend to give you an idea of some things you might look for during the walk. I’ll talk about what we plan to do, and see who might need some particular assistance with their camera or anything else I might offer.

We will depart at 10:00 a.m., and leisurely make the 1.3 mile stroll to the falls, stopping whenever something attracts your interest. We’ll spend an hour or so at the falls and the conservation park before returning back to city hall.

Lunch will be graciously provided by Raise the Roof (Susan and I dined there for the first time last week, and it’s darned good!), and during lunch we’ll have a discussion of the international photo contest, and I will be pleased to receive your constructive comments on how we might do a better job next year.

If you don’t mind, please send me a brief email at mayorjones@cityofwestworth.com, and let me know what type of camera you plan to use, whether you will be bringing a tripod, what you are hoping from the event, etc. This will help me in my planning. I assure you the event is very low key and open to photographers of all levels (Susan is bringing only her smartphone).

I look forward to seeing you Saturday morning — it should be a fun time.

Regards, Kelly
